That won't happen; a publisher would significantly reduce the potential gamers they could reach on the X360 if their game was released on HD-DVD and not the standard format (with maybe downloadeable extras). That would be bad business.

Exactly Dapsone, its basically suiside for the developer and for M$ if they suddenly bring stuff out on HD DVD, it also would compeltly destroy the Elite comign out and the pointfullness of it, heck it don't have a HD DVD player in it.

Besides if they were goign to do this they woudl ahve done this for the Halo 3 launch, because then one, this would make everyoen buy the HD DVD player because they need halo! But again it would have been stupid. So 360 playing HD DVD games ain't gonan happen. I think M$ and Nintendo were right not including a next gen format drive in their consol. Good for the Dual layer, but needs more compression or a triple layer out soon, because the space is beign used up fast.

Thing is if things go that drastic for space, it can simply have parts of it downlaoded to the HDD and then played off that, so that the Disc is more like a execution fiel to downlaod it and then launch the game. But then again i doubt that would happen!

Some games have already been too big for a single disc, they just make them on 2 or three discs. That's still cheaper that pressing HD DVD or Blue Ray discs. STorage, when managesd in this fashion, is not a problem.

I would not mind a special edition on HDVD for 70 or 100$ as long as the normal 360 game on multi disc set came with it :X

so? the industry as a whoel is still usign DVD and will so for the next 5,10,15 years BR is a freaking niche within a niche game wise.

I cant see the average joe who owns normal dvds upgrading to Blu-ray or hddvd. To me be Blu-ray and hd are like laser discs. It took 20 years to replace vhs. I reckon dvd will be around for another 10 years max.

Technology is moving faster than it did in the days of VHS so DVDs may disappear faster than you think. However I do think that HD-DVD and Blu-ray will be short lived as there are other emerging technologies that have the potential of storing 300+GB on a disc the size of a DVD/CD such as holographic media. It is available now, but the cost is outrageous. But like any other technology that will come down in time and then there will be something else right around the corner.

that's the reason why I don't see BR/HDVD goign anywhere because technology is going to fast, for now DVD is the best choice, in 5 years when BR/HDvd is the next chosen format,I will move to it but until then I ain't wasting my money on the nonsense!

here is an original idea. why doesn't microsoft put the HDDVD drive in the Xbox so u dont have to buy it as an add on? since the drive is cheaper. just pack it in with the Elite system then the Elite would be really worth the 479 they are asking. i bet it'd sell faster even.

I like that idea. That way it would be worth its price tag and fit its "Elite" nameplate and I may actually buy one.

Ya a 600$ 360 is a no no in my book,plus devs would not make games on it anyway,so Hdvd games are a pipe dream unless MS is ready to toss a couple billion into making 3 or 4 Hdvd games.

Glad to have our HD DVD 360 Addon $188 USD and we got a free movie besides It looks very sweet we rent mostly it has been worth it to us we love it.
