o2 always has the cheapist calls and free things even though i dont us emuch credit but if the iphone over here in uk is to dear nobody will get it

Considering that Telstra actually own ALL of the phone lines in Australia and just rent them to the other telco's, I don't believe that apple will consider anyone BUT Telstra for the iPhone contract.

Doh MY O2 Contract doesnt expire till Jan :( oh well maybe the smartphone will have dropped to a more-reasonable price by then.

Brilliant - a pointless, expensive device for a pointless, expensive carrier.

O2 coverage leaves a lot to be desired - unless you live and work in city centres.

Of course the idiots who pay extra for a plain white box and ribbon for their iPod will be queuing up from now to get one.

I think Apple really think their market is stupid - they don't even believe they can change a battery themselves!!!

Most normal users would struggle to change the batt a bit, but ive a set of torque drives here that says otherwise ;-)

And ive never had an iphone but i really want a tocuh phone like my htc that actually has an quick interface and a decent processor.

The device may be expensive. But O2 is one of the best networks in the UK, they're easily the cheapest.

You must be joking, I use O2 and can get a signal pretty much anywhere, it is a myth that O2 have bad coverage from times when they weren't even called O2.

As for call charges They are the most competetive rates from all of the carriers. Three and T-Mobile may be cheaper but the service is rubbish and in the case of Three especially the coverage is RUBBISH.

Regardless however there is no way I would stump up the money for this thing.

Actually its not called O2 anymore its called MM02 and owned largely by a german company, prior to this it was called O2, prior to that it was split into two companies.

BT Cell Net and BT Genie

BT genie was the later spin off, offering web only sales and cheaper call rates.

As bt cellnet were one of the first providers in the uk they had one of the best anologue covers, however on the digitial switch they were a little slow compaired to the likes of tmobile and hutchinsons (orange) to convert existing masts and add new masts where required.

But ive been with them a long time and there are few places i dont get signal, the few places i know about as black spots are the same on most networks.

The most common thing i find for call problems is some greasy trucker whos played with his CB to crank the output power who drives next to you and causes signal loss.
