without a adapter to mount the PSP onto the pad I don't see how or why they would want this?

I have one question; WHY?! Am I missing something? Why connect a PS3 controller to the bottom of a PSP?

because thats where the adapter will plug into to,if they give some fun extras and let you config the PS3 pad to how ya want to play your PSP game that might be nice if they take that idea of control first over to the PS3 where you can config your controller to how you want to play any game then by the gods I will soul my soul for a PS3!

Oh, so you can use the PS3 controller to play PSP games. That would be cool to modify the controls to your liking. I find myself trying to reach finger over finger sometimes.

well it seems that is what they are trying plus they are moving to PSX games on the PSP via PSN so it might be a "extra" for that since the PSP is crappy control wise for PSX ports.

But frankly I don't see any 1rst or 2nd level dev/maker letting the player decide where they want their buttons,much like nin they wont complete control over it so they can sale you extras...they don't seem to realize let me buy a 40$ device that will let me remap the controls and I will pay 80$ for it LOL

it says digital outputs

those that means digital video output as well or just audio

cause if it got a digital video output, you can connect a ps3 controller, so you catctually have a portable play station, maybe that good be way Cooler

I sure would like that
so when im home i can play my psp game on the tv with a dif controller why not?, thats better than playing it in the handheld all the time

ya when my DS was runnign I prefered to plug it into the stero and would love to have it on the TV,the damn console makers are so short sighted I'l kill for a 30-60$ device that lets me plug the portable into the big screen(19inch tv but still).

One of the reasons why I opted for emulators besides the extras like save states and speed hacks you can have it on a bigger screen and sit and relax and play it.

The connectivity of all Sony devices should be there.

Also remember the new "slim" PSP has TV connection capability. If you had your psp connected to the tv....would it be practical to play the unit itself or a controller extended from it?

not just a joystick, a wireless joystick, because if they dessign a device, maybe you can also connect, 2 controllers and multiplayer is on, so its now portable playstation and not personal playstation wich doesnt live up the idea of a playstation since some games are just better for multiplayer, and its not very convenient to have two psps to play a game but who knows probably theyre so greedie the would say this would be bad for sales

it would be neat if it could use the PSP screen for a menu or stat screen but ya a controller would do better.

Why don't sony just include an extra analog stick, And save the consumers some money for once.

I will hope that this will let use remote play to play our ps3 games anywhere with the psp

with all the rescaling of games that would be impossable but letting you watch moices on the PSP from the PS3 or playing PSP games on the TV as well as loading bought games off the PSN store to the PSP these can be done, and I hope both SOny and nin do this,if I can play my habnd held on the TV that would reperk my instrest in it.

Or this could turn out to be a nightmare. You would definitely need an AC adapter to power the PSP, because the wireless controller functionality would drain the battery too fast. Then the screen, you would need either a bracket to hold it up (for visibility) or TV out capability. So what you're looking at is almost a laptop docking station, that's specialized for the PSP. How much would such a device cost, especially in relation to the PSP's cost? I'm willing to bet it's the price of a DS. That would be in line with Sony's "high end" pricing strategy. Oh, and what happens when the first Dev makes a game that uses the motion sensing or dual sticks, that would require you to buy such an apparatus? I could sense rioting in the streets!

thats where options and some forethought in control schemes come in,but a 60$ adapter to handle this and let me play PSP games on the TV would be worth it even at 90$ I wish they would stop painting bricks gray and calling it lead they need to make them lead (meaning you have a facy costly device that has not met its potential lets get a device on it to bring it potential to bear. )

This'll just be an expansion on the GBA-Gamecube thing. You plug your psp in, and all it will do is display the map, or maybe unlock a few extras.

If they did that, they would alienate the current psp owners. They would be forced to pay to get the dual analog or be left out for future games that would take advantage of the dual analog. It would, in fact, cost the consumer more money. It is something they should have done from the get-go.

It will be interesting to see what direction they are going with this though.

they really need to move to the PSP 2 but they are getting btch slapped with the PS3 currently, in any case I hope they build something neat for once that dose not have a ton of holes in it....
