Microsoft likely to bundle rather than drop price of Xbox 360

28 September 2007 10:45 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 28 comments

Microsoft likely to bundle rather than drop price of Xbox 360 Although they have lowered manufacturing costs of the Xbox 360 by switching to the 65nm CPU, internal marketing pictures have shown that Microsoft will most likely not be lowering the price of the console but instead just bundling games and perhaps accessories.

The bundled games would be "Forza Motorsport 2" and "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" on both the Premium and Elite consoles.

In Canada, bundling games has been a standard practice with the Best Buys and Wal-Marts already bundling 360 Premiums with Forza and Amped 3 or Forza and NHL 2k8.

instead of games, why dont they bundle it with the wireless adapter?

Yeah, hardware is different. I could go for that, depending on what it was.

Great I guess MS knows which games appeal to me the most. Of course they couldn’t have some sort of discount card for 360 hardware/games, even live points. Looks like ill be attempting to sell two crapy games in order to buy one I actually want.

yeah, if they bundled with another wireless controller, or maybe a fan for their overheating problem, or a battery charger then I would be all for that. Otherwise, don't sell me games that I don't want to play. If you want to bundle a game, then look at how successful Nintendo was, they put their best games in with the console. Mario is still a classic, and it was free.

Yea!!! Bundle Hardware! Wireless controllers are expensive!!

I knew that it was going to go in this direction! I stated it a few months ago that the cheaper chip was going to force a hand to do something. I was wanting a price reduction though.....too bad :-( So I guess as soon as we start seeing the bundles, it's safe to assume that those consoles have the chip. Because I haven't heard or read anything stating proof that it's been used yet. We'll see what happens this holiday season. I hope I get another 10% off Best Buy coupon by then ;-)

I too have been waiting for the 65mm 360's and hope that these new "bundles" are a sign that the updated consoles are on the market.

Anyone know the timeframe for the 65mm 360's?

unless I can pick 4 games(out of them all) to come with a premium for 350/400$ I will skip a bundle like the plague.

try again!

BTW sticking cheap ass crapiest cut games with it sucks bad.

If they really want to make an impact, they should throw in the HD-DVD drive

In your dreams lol

Microsoft isn't generous enough to throw in an overpriced wireless nework adapter(something useful for that matter) for an extra $20 or somethin'.

If I had a 360, I would need the wireless adapter, but for $130? Crazy. But not as crazy as the one for the Xbox. That was $200!

I would get the bundle if it came with xbox live card and halo 3.

This is the way to keep the price up so that the companies profit margins stay relatively high.

Because you can plug the ethernet port into a B or G or A wireless router for half the price and use it like the 100$ USB 360 wireless adapter, do please try again, your only making yourself look more stupid.

Actually Zippy he has a point, you've gone from "Wireless Gaming Adapter"(wireless reciever) to wiring it into a wireless router (transmitter) both are completely different things.
