HD DVD and Best Buy start new promotion

2 October 2007 19:40 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 7 comments

HD DVD and Best Buy start new promotion Building on previous promotions that offered five to seven free HD DVD movies with the purchase of a qualifying HD DVD player, Best Buy is now offering a total of 9 discs with a purchase of the new $399 USD Toshiba HD-A30.

The deal was first revealed in this weeks circular and ups the ante for HD bundles.

The first five movies are available via mail through the "Five free discs" promotion while two others, '300' and 'The Bourne Identity' come included with the HD-A3. The final two free movies are available at Best Buy at the point of purchase.

"It’s a good start to a [HD DVD] collection,"
Best Buy spokesperson Brian Lucas said.

A good deal indeed, especially with a good player.

I didnt kno HD DVD players offered free HD DVD movies. I guess there's not alot of promotion where i live. 7 free movies is alot but would it really make a diff if now giving 9? Cuz if this promotion isnt working as well as they'd hope then maybe its not about the movies. None the less, HD DVD is cheaper and offers more free movies than Blu-ray so this would be good for anybody that would like to start an HD collection this is it. Useless you want/prefer Blu-ray :P

This is a good start for them. You get 9 movies. Then that leaves you with: how many to buy? How many titles do they have for this? I'm sure transofrmers would look amazing on hd dvd. Its a good deal but Ill wait until there is really something unique for the system.

If I was in the US I'd go for the 52" Tosh with HD-DVD player with 9 movies today. As I'm in the UK,the deals here are just not enticing at all.
