In response to widespread reports that it would be only stocking HD DVD players for the holiday season, Kmart VP Jonathan Magasanik released a statement which said the following.
"There have been numerous statements in the media today, attributed to Toshiba, indicating exclusive support for the HD DVD format in Kmart stores. These statements are false. Kmart intends to support both the HD DVD and Blu-ray platforms, and has no plans to support either platform exclusively" read the statement.
Its still not clear what Blu-ray players Kmart will stock next to its Toshiba HD DVD players, but Kmart has had the PS3 available on shelves since its release.

I dont Kmart has the money to choose a side in the format war. Walmart is doing them in badly with all the cheaper and more quantity products.

Uh oh...
Like K-Mart would make a difference. It's like 50% of the Dollerama that Wal-Mart is, or even worse. Yet some how they bought out Sears?

Well I see the original statement as a focus on Hdvd for the holidays not a droping of BR, it dose make sense with the HDvd assault on the holidays that they would ty and get in on the profits that will be made.
Sears is/was a middle retail store Kmart merely had just enough to buy them up and now they all are in trouble LOL,I am surprised they dont merge the store fronts to save on moeny.
Oh and Kmart is a bit better than walmart they carry more brands and stuff its not a huge difference but kmart is a bit better than winamart.

Zippy i have to disagree with you on the Kmart is better then Walmart comment. I dont know what Kmart you have in your area but ours suck tremendously Sears do too. The Kmart here electronic section isnt bigger then Walmarts bathroom lol. They selection is horrible. They have 2 major brands on the shelf which are Sony and JVC all the rest are generic companies. As much as i hate to say it still Walmart is better they offer more because they are everywhere. Kmart is a dying breed in that kinda market.

I think it was a super Kmart, that compared to most older cramped stores and the new mini super wallyworlds it just not quite as good.
a normal super wallmart dose have a bit more stuff tho.

KFart's in my area s*ck and are about to go away they keep closing stores. Wallyworld does pretty good and carries a fare amount of stuff, they are better then Sears for electronics and typically Sears is expensive for TV's and what not. Worst Buy, Circuit City, and Ultimate are the better places to go depending on what electronics you are looking for. As for the Article it just seems to be more marketing lies which we've seen a lot of.
