Jobs is way outta touch. But then again he has always been a hit or miss kinda guy.
He keeps rolling out one high priced item after another. Even the elitist, gotta-have-an-Apple-at-any-price crowd, is wearing thin. His new customer is "Average" Joe & Jane. With Americans losing homes at a rate of 7000 per day, Steve needs to offer recession style incentives like lower prices and/or bundled packages that include free trial movies & songs. Apple has over $15 billion in the bank and can easily afford exciting promotions without denigrating it's pricey, elitist, out-of-the-box-thinking, sex appeal.
He owes it to shareholders to drive sales up. The stock plunges every time he announces these pathetic over-priced rollouts. Everyone is scratching their heads in total disbelief wondering if he's lost his game once again.

(One for the conspiracy theorists: Worse yet, maybe he’s tanking the stock intentionally to buy AAPL at a huge discount. Does the SEC allow CEOs to write options on their stocks without reporting LOL...That would be like Mel Brook’s "The Producers" or Pete Rose gambling on his own games. Not so LOL for shareholders.)
Whatever the case, Steve needs to snap out of it. Like Bernanke, Jobs is way behind the curve as far as the economy is concerned. And from the looks of it he too will do too little too late.

Yeah, but at least Pete Rose bet FOR his team. Always amazed me how they would punish a manager for voting FOR his own team.

$500, I don't think so. I'd rather drop half that on an 80GB Zune or an iPod classic. Yeah the touch screen is nice, but is not worth the hefty price tag.

I think i would rather put my sim card in a $25 wal-mart prepaid phone. The money may still go to an oversized competition-stifling corporation, but at least i am only giving them 1/20th of the cost of an iphone. If i am going to spend that kind of money, it will be for something i can actually use, like gas or rent or food, etc.

your $25 phone will fix nicely in your pocket along with all the $100 bills you didn't spend on a iphone.

i have to admit the apple touch and iphone are pretty nice products, but i hate apple.

once companies start to make a product that can compete with the quality, then apple is going down quic. They products are expensive, extremely slow and so format specific. If a company like archos mad a phone, they would dominate.

Slow? I have an iMac and it's not slow :P

I like apple products like iPods because they are good quality and they look it too. It's not like you're buying a $400 piece of Sht. They still are pricey... But many things have gotten cheaper in a way. Before, the video was $400 for 60Gb, now it's $400 for 160Gb! And it's like the same size too. And their basic computers have gotten cheaper and better at the same time. Their new iMacs start at like $1200 for a 20" with some pretty good features (I payed more, right before it was released :( ), where as before it was a 17" for like $100 more, and their MacBooks have also gotten much cheaper. Sadly products like the MacBook Air are WAY over-priced, but because there's nothing else like it they can put any price they want on it :P
