Price cuts coming for iPhone and iPod Touch?

16 February 2008 17:30 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 11 comments

Price cuts coming for iPhone and iPod Touch? According to 9to5mac, Apple is preparing to drop the prices on its very popular iPhone and iPod Touch models, possibly as soon as next week.

The rumored price cut will be $100 USD for both the Touch and the iPhone and the smaller capacity 8 GB Touch will be completely dropped from the line just as the 4 GB iPhone was last year.

If proven true the price cuts will mean the new 16 GB iPhone will cost $399 USD and the 32 GB Touch will cost the same, a very reasonable price considering models touting half the memory capacity sell for that same price currently.

The price drops should make way for "pricing space" for the upcoming 3G iPhone slated for release later this year.

That itouch is a really cool device. A buddy at work has one. But it is WAY too low on capacity for me to buy. It's more of a gimmick than a real real player. And as for the iphone it's a waste of money. But then again i don't have a cell phone. I would rather not be tethered by a phone. I guess i will eventually have to get a cell phone again but it will probably be a cheap prepaid one for my wife for emergencies.

Why wouldnt they just lower the price when they announced the 32gig model?

They like screwing people over, and no one seems to notice or care.

heh, just love when people start moaning about how Apple is "screwing them over" with these price cuts :D
What's wrong with you people? It's not very hard to understand that a product will be cheaper after a few months on the market, that happens to just about EVERY product EVER, especially high-tech, which as soon as a better product is released can drop 50% in some cases.
So if you don't want to pay a premium to be an early adapter, just wait some time or don't buy the newest product, and quit complaining!

I still don't understand why the iPhone is so great. Does anybody else think that paying over 200 bucks for a stupid phone is just retarded?
I mean yeah it has all it's bells and whistles but what use are they if youre not on an airplane everyday?

well its a great phone but maybe its not meant for everyone, for the cost you really get alot more for your phone than just a phone, especially if its jailbroken, playing nes Emulators and having 3rd party software. I bought my iphone last month and was a little bit upset they came out with larger HD for them. Now I know people may thing spending $400 for a phone is crazy but some people might think spending $400 for a game console and $60 a pop for games is crazy but it all depend on the person or cunsumer.

I mean with all the people that bought a iphone for that much cant all be crazy just my opinion.

I don't know...maybe its just because I view it as a phone and nothing more.
