I wasn't able to find any pricing information which probably does point to a high price. But then I'd expect that for a product like this anyway.

Sounds like it's gonna have a premium price tag the way he talks about it.

Pricing is suppose to be comparable to similar tv's of this size. I think they will drop some time in September - so I've heard.

laser tv were boasted as having half the consumption of power and a third the cost in parts and production. They should be fairly inexpensive. 100,000 : 1 cont. ration too. We'll soon see how much smoke was being blown up our assess from initial introduction of the new technology.

True, they shouldn't be too over priced. Supposed to be cheaper then any plasma on the market and color reproduction is supposedly twice as good.

If this laser beam is bent like the electron beam on a CRT, it may be very cheap to produce. Very interested. I'm sure the first waves of laser TVs will have to re-coupe the cost of development.

I don't understand all this manufactured nonsense.

See i don't know why they don't try to make LCD and plasmas more matured
instead they roll out more and more hdtv's based on totally deferring internal components.

there screwing with the internals, DLP im familiar with use micro-mirrors not laser's.

they should perfect something already, its like this guys are really smart but all of them have ADHD, if they focused on one technology, it would drive production cost down.

im sure it said a while ago on this site that laser tv`s were going to be real cheap to produce compared to what we are using now..

then again they can stick what price they want on them and rake in the profit....

hmm..well i dont know what about you guys but i wouldnt be jumping on this yet.. a 1:100,000 may be cute and better than what weve got..but i wouldnt be throwing money at that just yet..the first OLED are already out and the problem with them for now is the pricing and the size (being too small for now)..but if the technology advances over the year and with pnasonic soon offering a 37 inch OLED tv already then i suggest you might want to save your money..just in case you dont know the contrast is 10 times bigger - 1:1,000,000 ..just something to chew on..

Yeah, from what I've read (I believe it was an Afterdawn article, but I can't remember the specifics) they are to run at up to 75% less power consumption. It was projected that by the Spring of 09 they would be available in the smaller sizes at competitive prices and give LCD and Plasma a run for their money. I've held off on buying a 42" LCD just to see how this pans out next Spring. If it's a reliabe technology and produces more vibrant colors, consumes less power and costs relatively the same as comparable LCD's, it's a no-brainer for me.

At CES this year, it supposedly beat Pioneer's top of the line Kuro in a side by side test. It's blacks where blacker (Not a racist remark - fgamer ;))and whites were much whiter.

About time we had a change from the old tech of LCD (which comes from watches & is laggy) and Plasma (screen burn, high electric bills & pretty heavy). I hope it works out & look forward to some indepth reviews, but...

I know HD contents will look amazing on laser screens (billions of colours), but will laser still look as good in SD, without all the blockiness & jaggies?

And I hope that a 65" screen will cost just $2500 based on the cheaper manufacturer costs of laser. Heres hoping...
