Sharp releases small AQUOS LCDs

Sharp announced yesterday the availability of two new AQUOS LCD HDTVs,, tiny units measured at 20-inches and 16-inches. The LC-20E5 and LC-16E5 both have 720p (1366x768 resolutions) and have two HDMI connections.

The TVs have digital TV tuners built in, but can also be used as computer monitors depending on the user's needs.

Both displays feature "a contrast ratio of 1,200:1, brightness of 450cd/m� and a horizontal viewing angle of 176 degrees. Traditional RGB video, as well as S-video and component plugs are also part of the HDTVs' connections. A network jack and RS-232C input are also included, and the TV remotes can also control a connected Sharp Blu-ray player through CEC support."

New sensors adjust brightness and conserve energy and the company says the LC-20E5 and LC16E5 use only 61kWh and 48kWh energy per year.

Both TVs are set for September releases in Japan with a retail price equivalent to $870 and $780 USD. No word on a North American release.

Both TVs are set for September releases in Japan with a retail price equivalent to $870 and $780 USD. yeah if there charging that much its not even worth bringing over here to US. $200-$249 is a decent price. [ + quote]
