Microsoft to sell red Xbox 360

19 February 2009 21:33 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 18 comments

Microsoft to sell red Xbox 360 Microsoft has accidentally let an internal memo slip which shows off that the software giant is preparing to release a red-colored Xbox 360 console.

The memo was sent to retailers and New Zealand gaming press, and specifically noted that a new promotion in the region would give buyers a free copy of Halo Wars with the purchase of any Xbox 360 console. However, the deal "does not apply to the Red Xbox 360 Elite console which is exclusive to EB games."

Currently, the Elite model only sells in black, but it appears that a second colorway is in the works.

There is no other word on whether the console will hit any other region besides New Zealand or any other store besides GameStop/EB Games.

I was wondering if they would come out with different colored ones sometime after the Elite came out.

They haven't come out with a pink or blue one to match the controllers yet but I wouldn't be surprised. :P

if u cant fix it ur very newbie and shouldn't own a 360 in my opinion go be newb and buy a ps3 they r as useless as a console comes

You r a moron......why should ANYONE fix M$ mistake????If someone opens the case its warranty void...why fix it yourself when M$ fixes them for FREE.....Any you shouldn't put down the PS3 when it has had limited problems....I own BOTH and have since the launch date...I'm on 360 number 5 and PS3 number 1...so in MY exp. the PS3 is far superior

edit- i promise to be mature in future posts

Yeah but you're even more of a newbie if you rip that "Warranty void if sticker broken or removed" sticker.

    I completely disagree.

The only case this would be true would be if someone did it because they were frigging mentally retarded and just liked to remove stickers.

And, really, the X-clamp fix was a ridiculously easy modification.

If it's such an EASY fix that a n00b can even do, why can't microsoft do it themselves and get out from this RROD fiasco. It's like you want me to buy a 360, open it up, void warranty and do the fix myself...

AND just in-case you didn't notice this is a 360 topic, why bring the PS3 into it? The PS3 useless you say? Now where did you hear that? Do you even own a PS3? If not why bash something you haven't experience...

Doing idiotic things like this is just asking to get flamed...
Also, ye I may have the newbie rank, but I have been on afterdawn since Aug. 2005. I just don't post a lot, I just read.

Red xbox360? Ok nice, big deal. Its still plays the games so there is nothing new.

Anyone talking about fixing the 360 themself? Why do you sound so immature to support a product that shouldnot break in the first place. I love my 360 but its not my place to fix it, plus microsoft will do it for free it it ever should need some work.

by eck.. M$ discovered that plastic comes in different colours... we have been able to buy all kinds of colour of cases for years.. the elite was black ffs.. whay is a red case considered newsworthy?.. there are more important things.. like the smell of Andre's farts perhaps.. can we work out what he has been eating.. to discuss.

What are those 2 retards on about above?.. can anybody understand them?.. rrod isn't just an xclamp or ram fix.. it can be a fried cpu or gpu.. or a multitude of other faults, which even M$ can' fix... calling people n00bs for not being able to fix something which is broken beyond the tech of the maker to fix just shows what a f-in retard that incoherent ranter is... I doubt the prick has ever seen a piece of high tech electronics outside a shop window display.

Free open source software = made by end users who want an application to work.
I would rather you hate me for who I am than love me for what I am not.
Welcome to the other side of the looking glass Alice

    +1 for sick burn!

It's neat to see that there is a new color... But I think it ends at just that: neat.

Of course this had to spur an angsty flame war. But that's to be expected.

A special thanks to c.trigger for his especially helpful and mature comment.

Those red controllers look pretty nasty. Red and Game system don't mix.

Why not Metallic Blue, Silver or even Dark Green for Halo Wars?

i do dig the red xbox as to the red PSP (GoW, Kratos). But the red is not exactly the "shiny" red, rather, it's dull red...

also, if i do buy the red xbox and if it goes RRoD, people gonna have a field trip with it... That's one scary thought i just can't overcome. Unless i'm guaranteed to have the same red xbox as the replacement.

Red Xbox and RRoD, come on, it's not exactly funny, but hell, you can't stop people from talking about it. Like i said before, it's a reputation of things, it doesn't go away that easily. Maybe the red Xbox is a mistake?
