Netflix hits 2 billionth DVD rental The popular DVD rental company Netflix has proudly announced the delivery of its two billionth DVD this week, giving the lucky subscriber who received the disc a lifetime subscription.

The disc happened to be a Blu-ray copy of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and was shipped to a member in Alabama.

The company launched in 1999, and recently announced they had reached 10 million subscribers in the US. The service offers over 100,000 DVD titles, and 1300 Blu-ray films.

I'm guessing that since the subscriber who requested DVD number 2 billion which, possibly ironically, happened to be a Blu-Ray disc, has Blu-Ray "enabled" on his Netflix account that he's getting a lifetime Blu-Ray "enabled" subscription.

Naw man, they will make them pay extra. Netflix is like the Ryanair of movie rental businesses.

Who wants to bet that the 2 billionth disk went to someone related to a tach guy...

My bet is that the 2 billionth renter doesn't even exist. Granted, they may have shipped the claimed number of discs, but I doubt that anybody will personally know the winner. These things are always somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody.
