Windows 7 RC build 7100 leaked

24 April 2009 18:41 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 16 comments

Windows 7 RC build 7100 leaked Microsoft has apparently sent out an updated build of Windows 7, and the new update, build 7100, has already been leaked to BitTorrent sites and other P2P networks.

7100 fixes over 2000 bugs from previous builds. Microsoft has noted however, that an RC will be made available to MSDN/TechNet customers on May 5th, although it is unclear whether it will be 7100 or something even newer.

Adds Long Zheng of the istartedsomething blog, "The highly anticipated release candidate (RC) build of Windows 7 has been leaked and its authenticity is entirely undisputed. First looks reveal nothing significantly new or different, but if you've been wanting to get a vibe of how far Windows 7 has come since the public beta, especially performance, this is the build to get."

Just tried the recent beta on VMware. A few little things struck me..the "show desktop" button on the taskbar is missing..no easy way to add it back in. And the classic start menu is GONE. Permanently. Also, up arrow in explorer is also gone. Everything is moved around in all directions, similar to what office 2007 was to office 2003. Which of course makes me wonder..if they f'ed up the little things, who is to say they didn't do the same with the BIG things? Won't hold my breath on this release of winblows..its Vista with a few bandaids on a bloody stump of an arm.

That's one thing I hated about Vista (and now W7)...there's no TRULY 'classic' mode, but just a theme that KINDA looks XP-ish. There's still far too many annoyances for me to really enjoy any of the decent things about Vista or W7 (or Vista 1.0, considering 'Vista' was really Vista 0.5).

Visually and perhaps stylistically its vista 2.0, but under the hood it preforms as well as XP on a 2002 PC and that my friend makes this the OS of the century!

Bottom right corner of the taskbar is a little rectangle which is the show desktop button. Get your facts straight instead of bashing Windows. If this was really an issue, you could've Googled it to find an answer .41 seconds. Here's what I got: http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=show...&meta=&aq=f&oq= click on the 2nd one.

They keep making fixes for Windows 7, yet they don't fix the Vista problems that have been around since Windows XP! Rather than constantly moving everything around and forcing people to learn new interfaces, why not fix the existing problems? Their OEM license structure will ensure that they keep selling new copies of Vista for years to come.

Um..bottom right corner? I think not. Its way the hell over to the right side of the desktop. At least 3 clicks over. I dont mean to be bashing windows, but if they cant get the SHOW DESKTOP ICON right the first time, who the hell are you to say they got everything ELSE right?

This is what happens to a company when they have BILLIONS in the bank. The money goes to their heads and they forget about the customers who made them rich in the first place (George Lucas, anyone?).

Yes it is in the bottom, right of the taskbar.

And I never said they got everything else right. What the hell do you read with?

Me too renshoubh, when I built my new PC I went out of the way to get a fresh copy of XP and intend to keep it.
I will be interested to learn of the DRM obstacles built into W7!

ME 2.0 is hated and has gained a bad rep so they are trying to fix windose and make millions at the same time.

Its windose you can only expect so much and they delivered on the more important things, fans and groups can make better GUI options if MS dose not by the time of release.

You have to give them some props for making windose 9(NT:4,95/98:5,ME:6,XP:7,Vister:8) more comparable and preforming, they've finanly released a OS that can grow from release not mutant from a zombie to a bloody fanboy.... and no there is no difference both are whiny and out for brwains!!!... or at least IQ.....

Ive been using windows 7 build 7000 for several weeks now and can honestly say it is THE successor to XP. Vista was tripe and even though i have tried it several times i always ended up going back to XP. This version of windows, is for me everything i expected vista to be. Quick loading times and an improved GUI along with fixing many bugs and an improved compatibility with peripherals means that I wont be going back to XP again. Top marks Microsoft, keep up the good work!

sorry Zipp.. it's not good enough..OS of the century has to go to sabayon4 .. but only 9 years in how can anybody claim such a thing? If you look back on sheer numbers sold and used at home over the longest time then the 20th century OS was cbm.. (who??)

this is just more sucky spyware built on fista for the brain dead.. and M$ sales figures prove the switch to FOSS over the last few years.

Free open source software = made by end users who want an application to work.
I would rather you hate me for who I am than love me for what I am not.
Soon to be everybodys antipodean sex goddess.. actually only one persons.. but thats not the point. Move over Minogue.. midgets cant compare XD

So maybe you guys can help me out a little. I've been doing a little research on the difference between the two taskbars and cannot find a version of 7 that has the taskbar shown on the top picture provided. What is with the two different taskbar interfaces? I like the top one much better, but I cannot find a version that has it. How is this tracked or changed? Anyone have any information on the different taskbars? Thanks....

Well MS wise its the OS of the century they minimized the cock ups at least......

Besides its not a OS without software and windose always rolls over everyone else in that....

OK so I figured out how to change the taskbar size. It's not the size of the actual taskbar, but the buttons on the taskbar that are making the taskbar so big.

Right click on the taskbar and go to properties. Find and uncheck "Use large icons" and the taskbar will look like the vista one. Good luck guys!
