Warner pulls a Disney, will put Harry Potter films in the "vault"

Warner pulls a Disney, will put Harry Potter films in the "vault" Warner Bros. has announced that they will do their best Disney impression and soon take Harry Potter films out of distribution and into a "vault" of sorts.
On December 29th, the studio will stop shipping copies of all 8 movies in the historic franchise.

The studio will release the films again in the future as special re-release editions, likely with a higher price tag.

'Harry Potter' DVDs have grossed $5 billion worldwide for Warner Bros. and over $7 billion in theaters.

Disney began the trend of archiving their titles to release them later at full price as special "limited" editions.

Will they still be available in Blu-ray 1080P torrent files?

No problem. Store away Warner Bros.

Not that I care, I don't buy DVDs, but still I can't believe the greed these companies have. And then they wonder why people download movies from internet. <curses the people who come up with crap like this>

Not to mention they have been selling "collectors packs" since they 3rd movie...HP trilogy...HP quadrology...HP sextology...HP FULL 8 MOVIE PACK. It's at least at a quadruple dip already lol

i use to buy dvds/ blue ray, now days i only get them when they are cheaper than when they first came out. Other than that I get them from other resources if you know what i mean :P

And here I thought George Lucas had the market cornered on this practice with the star wars films, go figure. How many dips has he taken with that franchise, too many to count I think.

The market could change by the time they decide to re release them.
And what do they mean by "limited" what more could they add to them, crappy deleted scenes and unfinished animated sequences???

I ain't gonna buy them! I've already seen them all!

They usually mean "sold for a limited time" or "in a limited number", which is of course BS. I mean, Disney also released all the animated classics "for a limited time", and they are still in the shops 10+ years later.

God this is such BS. They are just forcing people to burn and DL the movies. Way to go on giving the consumer just what they don't want.

Never been much of a medieval fan. My 29 year old daughter will be appalled!

Disney has been putting their, "classics" in the vault since the VHS days. I suppose Disney feels like there movies have some elite status and will bring mucho duckets when they are re-released.

these back-in-the-vault shenanigans are quite loathsome. i really wish there was a stipulation that, in order to be protected by copyright, the item must be available. of course, they w/could just say, "hey, this $50 dvd is available" or something similar. another pathetic attempt to extract revenue for the umpteenth time. the way i see it, if i buy something once in any format, i own the viewing license for all future formats.
