In the past few weeks, the Dutch anti-piracy foundation BREIN has shut down 10 illegal p2p file sharing sites including the previously reported dsb-tracker.org.
Some of the sites included were the Dutch sites ambachtor.org, bubbles-torrents.nl, flowtorrents.org, and extrempowerfreaks.org. Combined, the 10 sites had over 40,000 registered users and over 5000 available torrents.
The site operator of dsb-tracker had been put on notice to stop their illegal activities but declined to. BREIN then went to the sites hosting provider and demanded they take down the site. This led to the site operator taking down the site himself. Another of his p2p sites, dsb-scene.org was also put on notice.
Although 40,000 members and 5000 torrents seems like a tiny number, over the past 15 months BREIN has taken down 131 sites for a total of 1.6 million users.

its been my experience that there is no security diference between public and private trackers, the private ones just link to the torrents you could get on iso hunt anyway, its stupid. both times i was warned for uploading they were torrents i got from unrealtorrents.

ISO hunt is lame....I'm shocked you even use that to compair to a private tracker. No wonder you got warned.

The private tracker i use has dht disabled so they ARE not available on public trackers and don't show up on ISO hunt or any of the others. It is much more secure. The watchdogs would have to become members to get info and then would be guilty of downloading themselves. Plus it is a relatively small community and doesn't host mainstream blockbuster stuff so is under the radar relatively speaking. anyway if they ever come after Lithuanian filesharers they'd have to send out about 3 million letters and turn the whole country into a prison.
