Coke and iTunes team up to give away 2 billion songs

17 May 2007 12:23 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 7 comments

Coke and iTunes team up to give away 2 billion songs In a large announcement yesterday, Apple and Coke have said they will be teaming up in Europe to offer one of, if not the largest music promotions in the continent's history.

Starting later this month, and ending in August, the companies will give away 2 billion music downloads to drinkers of Coke products. Apple also plans to give away concert tickets and iPods.

There will be a limited edition Coke bottle shipping during the promotion and Apple also said that exclusive downloads of the concert performances would be available on iTunes as well.

This is a good deal if you are a big Coke product drinker, and like legal music.

Its funny, because Coke sponsered American Idol for the "Idol Gives Back" charity event to help stop poverty in Africa... they gave $5 million dollars for that.
But now theyre offering 2 BILLION songs for free?? Hmmm lets do the math: 2,000,000,000 songs X .99= $2 BILLION dollars. Granted, Coke is not doing it alone because Apple is along with it too, but im sure its STILL more money for that promotion than what they did helping starving kids in africa.

The last time they had this promotion here in the U.S I had won one song but didn't have an iPod but the Nomad Juke Box, for me to get the song I had to download iTunes and sign up… Turn out I couldn’t use my free song on my Nomad and could not play it on my PC without iTunes. I got mad and deleted everything, free song my (___][___) Now I have an 80GB iPod video and I use iTunes but I’ll never buy anything with DRM in it…

My sentiments exactly. Why don't Aussies get the same treatment always laging behind Asia and Europe.

What better way to strike up more interest in iPod sales?
