Panasonic developing an 150-inch plasma HDTV?

Panasonic developing an 150-inch plasma HDTV? Japan's Daily Yomiuri is claiming that Panasonic is developing a 150-inch plasma HDTV, the world's largest TV.
The paper cites anonymous sources, and claims that the TV will be the largest home TV, regardless of class. The screen itself will stand taller than the average adult.

The story also claims the TV will have a public debut at the upcoming CES show in January, and that the TV will reach 1080p Resolution. Although it will debut next month supposedly, the paper suggests that consumer models wont be ready until 2009.

?
what's the point of that? For the price of that TV you could get a very nice projector, plus dive into HD and get a kick axe sound system. Pretty much the entire home theater.

A wee bit overkill me thinks.

some einsteins forget too that the larger the tv, the less effective the resolution is. a 1080p is wonderful until you make the screen the size of a movie theater.

you'll have to be 19 feet away from the tv to see the image comfortably as well

Plasma TV means really quick burn-in (if I remember right). Now you can have black bars burned in your TV's picture that are bigger than your kids! :-P

If it was a 150-inch LCD TV then that would make sense. Last year, if I remember right, the largest TV out was a 103-inch LCD so I don't see why they couldn't expand it to 150+.

Peace

Damn thats way to much. I say they need to make a 2160p for this TV. Damn 1080p. Double the size you better figure out a way to double the quality. Plus create glasses for all those that will sit in front of this because somebodies going to go blind in a month.

I guess it might make sense for concert venues, business advertising or sports arenas.

Can't see anything but a tiny handful being sold to anyone else.

Who on earth (besides a minute nutter/ludicrously ostentatious rich element) has the space (or the inclination) to splash out the kinds of vast sums it's bound to cost on such a ridiculously huge TV?

The future is now, I've seen these large screen sizes only on science fiction movies. I never really thought they would actually make something that big. It's probably going to take 3 or 4 big people to carry it inside the house. I know all the hollywood types are going to buy one.

Yup, and probably build your own theatre room on the back of your house the size of a cinema as well, especially since (i heard) the 103 inch tv (also made by Panasonic) Pop Smith mentioned is built to order at $65,000. Imagine what they would charge for a 150 inch tv!

people are going to have their own cinema screen at home.

I'm gonna turn my back yard into a Drive-In Cinema and charge admission. ROFL
