Poison sues Capitol Records for cheating them out of royalties

Poison sues Capitol Records for cheating them out of royalties As if to underscore Kid Rock's statements to the BBC about record labels, members of Poison are suing Capitol Records for allegedly cheating them out of royalties through a variety of intentional miscalculations. In fact, according to the suit the band's management hasn't even been able to get Capitol to show them the records necessary to correctly calculate what they're owed.
In the suit band members claim Capitol "willfully and consistently accounted to Plaintiffs for, and paid over to Plaintiffs, substantially less money than is properly due and owing to Plaintiffs pursuant to the terms of the Recording Agreement." In other words the label intentionally cheated them out of royalties.

It also goes on to accuse Capitol representatives of lying to them, not just at the time royalties were due, but also later when they tried to audit the relevant records as allowed by their recording contract.

I can't imagine why people don't take the music industry's piracy data seriously. They seem so honest in all their othe dealings.

You can read the text of the suit in this PDF file.

I think vurbal was making a joke.

Anyway, its good to see bands sticking up for themselves and fighting the record labels. Hopefully soon the way will change and things will become fair for the artists.

Content creators get raped by corporations left and right and they have the balls to claim the high ground....

I read on another site. Maybe it was Blabbermouth.net. I am not sure. Poison is only suing them for $25,000.

English 101:

Regarding "There, their and they're"

There = I'm going over there (direction)

Their = It's their fault and he is their friend (possessive)

They're = conjunction (2 words put together, 'they' + 'are')
(i.e. They are being ridiculous or 'they're' being ridiculous)

Class is now concluded.

This is not meant to be insulting. Only those too ignorant to care to be corrected and no desire to learn will be offended. Guess we'll (we will) find out.

I humbly beg to differ. I also prefer proper spelling, punctuation, and use of words and conjunctions. I think it makes it harder for anyone to take anything you have to say seriously if translating it becomes a chore.

Back to the article.

I'd like to see something swing in favor of the artists, as we all know the labels get rich while taxing every possible angle of the people that provide their income.

They dry them out, rip them off, then discard if necessary.

Plus I never heard of the prick. he likes guns and drugs so much.. cool.. give me a heap of pcp and a 45 and his address... bet he ain't so keen on them after I get through ridding the world of some vermin @ his millionaires mansion all paid for by ghetto kids and stupid wannabe boy racers.

go Poison.. I think you suck, along with bon asshat and tigertailz and all the rest of them pretend rock bands, but anybody who has the guts to stand up and say "Hey.. we bein' robbed by the record company" is up 1 point in my books.
More power to your lawyers... now why don't you give all your music away on p2p networks if you really want some respect?

Oh really? What part of my post showed a lack of literacy? Do you know what literacy means? I think by being able to type complete sentences I have proven to be literate. Bad grammar does not equal "lack of literacy". Missing a few apostrophe's yourself hypocrite.
