CDCheck v3.1.13.0

CDCheck is utility for prevention, detection and recovery of damaged files with emphasis on error detection. It can can check each of your CDs and indicate which files are corrupted. CDCheck reporting features tell you exactly where the problems are. CDs can get damaged in a number of ways, so the program helps you determine whether your data is safe before it's too late. The program also provides a comparison option that lets you select a reference directory on your hard drive (or some other device). CDCheck ensures that the contents on a disc match those in the directory, and effectively alerts you of differences. Besides that CDCheck supports creation of CRC files which provide extra safety that files on your CDs are still exactly the same as they were. In addition to CD-ROMs, the program can be used with all other local or removable media (disk drives, floppy disks, ZIP drives...) visible by the operating system (Windows Explorer).

Nice tool to check your CD-Rs right after burning.

I must update my comments of November 27th. Here's the story.
First, I tried to register again, using the same data as last time. The site responded that the email address was already in use. So, in spite of not sending me a confirmation email, my data obviously had been registered. I logged in. I clicked resend, in another attempt to get a confirmation. Nothing happened. I tried to change the email address. Now the site responded the email address was invalid. Actually it wasn't, and even so, that would be a good reason to change it. But I couldn't.
BUT NOW THE GOOD NEWS. I sent a mail to support, explaing the whole situation. Within a couple of hours I got a reply from webmaster Mitja Perko. My account was activated. And he sent me my free license, even though I had not applied for it yet.
So, the program is excellent, and so is the way Perko resolved my problem. The site could probably use a workover though.

I rate the software as 'good', maybe even 'excellent' but I haven't used the program over a longer time yet so it is too early to tell.
Now another thing is, is it freeware or isn't it? The site says it's free for personal use. The site also says you have to apply for a free license. In order to do that, you have to register as a member on the forum. After logging in, you can fill out the application form.
This is a bit complicated, obviously they don't want to make it too easy to use the software for free.
The problem however is, registering does not work. I have registered twice now, using different email adresses, but never received their confirmation mail.
So I guess there is not much hope that I (or anyone else for that matter) will be able to continue using CDCheck when the 30-day trial period has expired.
Based on this I do not recommend the program. I hate it when people don't do as they say and leave me out to dry.

Great software. SOFTWARE IS FREE FOR HOME USE! Create, check, compare almost any hash type md4.md5,crc32,sha and several others. Compare any 2 files against each other, and many other features. I have been using this for almost a year now and I love it. Oh yes......IT IS FREE FOR PERSONAL USE. Thanks

I thought it was a great piece of software until i saw that it was a 30 day trial that is funny how the person who made it thinks he can charged for something that didn't take much time don't bother with the program.

This is a good tool to recover most of the bad sectors on a DVD.I've used it on both Stamped & Recorded DVD's.Takes quite a bit of time,so be patient.
Example:A friend of mine had a copy of Blade II,it would only play the 1st hour then just lock up,the problem was in the VTS_01_3 (VOB File).I used Recover in CD Check to copy it to my hard-drive.Then used DVD Decrypter to copy the rest of the DVD to my hard-drive,then copied the VTS_01_3 VOB File to that directry, the used DVD Shrink to make a new copy.now he has a working copy of Blade II,with a few frames of SWIKLES but still playable. It took about 3 hrs to copy the VOB File,so do be patient
(PS)It would have been easier to buy another copy but then u have to buy.Do u really want to spend the money on an old Disc.Or can u tolerate that little flaw when u re-watch the movie?
