Found this Software Excellent , eveything you need in 1 Package , did get an error message about 5 mins into it about " floating point devision by 0" whilst converting .avi to dvd . Simple fix ...download "XvidCodec" and bingo just restart the avi>dvd conversion and no more error messages. It is slow but quality !

WARNING!!!! - REVISED Sorry, but I need to revise my previous message. The file was NOT A TROJAN but an alert regarding a potential threat - Generic Pup.z in the file Avi2DvdprogramsfiltersAviSplitter.ax Just wanted to be clear on that as I didn't want to unjustifiably create a panic. Thanks.

WARNING!!!!! McAfee, during the setup process, displayed a warning regarding one of the files containing a trojan. Fortunately I was able to delete the file before it installed, however, when attempting to cancel the installation it continued to install the remaing files. Just a heads up. Hopefully there's a reasonable explanation.

Properly loading a file, and the ability to select the AudioStream seem to be issues for many users. It took me some sleuthing to find the answer to both problems, and I think a future version should fix this or at least add an explanation of the problem. Here are the answers... If your mkv video won't load, check the entire file path for odd characters (e.g., C:Documents and SettingsTom & JerryDesktop [or My Documents] won't work because of the "&"). Best bet is to move the mkv from wherever it is straight to C: If the file loads but you can't select an AudioStream, it's likely because the embedded Audio file is Track 1 and the embedded Video file is Track 2. They need to be flipped. Great app although it takes awhile to figure out it's quirks. HCenc encoder, though slow provides excellant results, superior to ConvertX, winAVi et al, especially at lower bitrates for longer movies.

I wanted to burn a DivX video that is 3:38 long, and it worked fine except that the DVD I got only has about the first half of the movie on it. The rest of the video is just not there! I would like to know why it is truncating the video. Is it too long? Maybe someone else will have better results.

I have to agree with doolbug, this software is more of a hassle than anything. It takes very long to encode and even worse it doesn't seem to work well with my computer since it keeps giving me errors about someting and anything. I tried out VSO and its the best program i have used for this type of application. VSO is much easier faster and user friendly.

Very good piece of software. Get execellent results using CCE although avi to dvd takes about 5 hours. Only problem is that if running overnight, avi2dvd starts the job again even if the shut down avi2dvd box is checked. This results in an iso 8gb and video with vts1 and vts2!

It was my first time doing this, so I was a bit unsure, but it worked great. The guide was a real help. Shutdown when done did exactly what it said. Nice and easy.

I am glad this program was free! If I had to pay for it, I would have been really upset. I had too many problems to mention. Plus it's not very user friendly. In fact it's awful compared to WinAVI and VSO. I strongly recommend those 2 programs. They are worth every penny spent!! They are very easy to use and fast to convert AVI files.

I used it and it works great. The free encoders work well but cannot get CCE to work with it. It would seem that it either works on a system or does not. I would recommend it.

Version 0.4.3 worked fine but used 100% of the CPU,I was pleased to read that the CPU usage had been fixed for release 0.4.4 but unfortunately something is very much amiss in the new version.Everything that I convert with it is way out of audio/video sync.This renders it useless.I await the next release and hope this prob is fixed because it is a good piece of software.

I'm not sure why some folks are having problems with this software. I've been using it since July of 2005 and never, ever had a problem with it. Maybe it's a software or hardware conflict with their systems. After all, it is difficult to foresee all of the millions of combinations of hardware components that are possible when writing software. And as for the song that plays on the help window - I love it!! :)

AVI2DVD did not work for me either. I keep getting errors with all sorts of .avi files. This is a great program in theroy, but has not delivered.

Worked perfectly converting Xvid .avi file into an .iso file, I then used DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 to burn iso image onto DVD. Very good quality. Only one thing that confused and that was I thought one of the avi2dvd gui's (or whatever they are called) had crashed. An MSDOS stylee window was open with some command prompt visible and it stayed like that for about 10 minutes, which seemed to me (a novice) like it had crashed. Luckily it hadn't and by the time I came back to my laptop it had continued doing it's thing. So I think a time remaining bar that covered and included all the gui's would be useful. Otherwise it's ruddy brilliant, thanks.

Program doesn't work very well. Loaded the avi and after fighting with the program and it prompting me to load this, select that... I finally am ready to "GO!" and it keeps asking me to load audiostream when none is selectable. Gave up on it! Oh, and dont ever hit the Help button... you're ears will die!!!

Followed the guide to a tee, and got nothing but errors with this software. It looks good in theory, but the Beta still needs a bit of work.

I give Avi2Dvd an excellent because I'm 50/50 but I'm certain that my 2nd attempt was user error. First attempt was flawless....and though I somehow didn't create and .iso on the 2nd attempt, I still may be able to recover. Somehow the output was the same as what would actually be on the dvd, only it's on my HD. I'm just going to drag&drop and see how it goes.

It seems the program is excellent technically, but needs far better usage instructions and an improved interface. First, I could not change the size of the GUI. The text was a bit small, but more importantly I couldn't see some of the items such as the number of passes for the encoder, etc. (I use 1280 x 1024 but decreasing that didn't help). Why no maximize option? Also, under the LOAD button there seems to be some text that begins More CDs . . . but I couldn't read any more. There seems to be no information on using Tab 5 - DVD Menu.

Worked exceptionally well from the onset. Relatively easy interface to use, quickly goes through an .avi file and converts it to a recordable platform. Couldn't ask for more, great piece of software and the best part of it all, it's free!

Worked great the first time I used it...Did have one "read error" message just as the "pulldown" stage was to begin. When I pressed OK the processed continued and the conversion was still successful.

Well, version 0.2.7b seems to have fixed the CCE issue i was having because now it'd right on the spot! And like Rotary said, it has all kinds of features in an easy to use GUI. That being said, and considering it's still an early beta, Excellent! I like.

hi the first try with CCE worked spot on! an avi to dvd file the quality was the same as the avi on the dvd, if there was a difference i couldnt see it! the avi was ac3 / mpeg4 and at 350meg on 4 passes took 1 hour 30 mins (but i was still surfing useing email etc...) now it only works with CCE 267 from the avi2dvd website they all shout about HCEnc being the daddy encoder but i am not sure about that? the stills for reference seemed to show cce at start of film blotchy but after on 4 passes it was kool! where HCenc on 2 passes yeiled the same results as 4 pass cce! great app! does dvd to dvd to with cce! even makes ya ISO to burn! changes ntsc to pal or visa versa (now dont that make life easy!) and outputs ac3 5.1, yup i like it! it does lots more like subs etc to..

Can't seem to get it to encode right with CCE. It is working with QuEnc though. It's still and early beta though, so for that, it's looking good.
