File recovery

File recovery tools try to find and rescue files from memory sticks, Flash memory cards and hard drives. Some of the recovery tools work only for files that have been accidentally deleted, but many utilities in this category can also recover files from corrupted media -- unreadable CDRs, memory sticks not recognized by operating system, etc. The memory card that contains all the family photos from your last holiday -- and that your Windows can't read anymore -- is probably the most common subject for data recovery software.
