Creative adds new features to Zen Stone

21 June 2007 15:35 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 7 comments

Creative adds new features to Zen Stone On Thursday, Creative updated its iPod Shuffle rival, the Zen Stone, by adding a "Plus" model.

The new model will have double the capacity of the original; 2GB, and will include a color screen, as well as FM radio and voice recording. The Zen Stone works just as the Shuffle does, including play and random features. The Zen Stone Plus will also hold about 500 songs if encoded at 128kbps. There are also silicone skins available that will allow consumers to change the color of their player to any of the five colors available.

The Plus follows the release of the original which hit shelves last month for $39.99 USD. When the Plus goes on sale in July it will have a $69.99 price tag.

Very Reasonable prices there.

@Jondrew
Ipods are not that bad but if u dont want to invest as much as you would with an Ipod then this would be a great substitute.

Creative has made quality products in the past, no reason to think that this would be any different.

I'm still running a Creative 1X DVD ROM drive and a Sound Blaster Platinum card from the Windows 95 days in one of my machines.

However, I did have a Creative CD Burner go dead just after the warranty was up.

Like most brandds, there are bound to bad ones in the bunch. I guess it is just hit or miss.

if they were a real quality brand it would not be so hit and miss,I don't trust Creative as a qaulity brand, I trust that their product line to be medium quality at best,the goes for any other brand name hocking consumer elertoniocs..

You make a good point. I think that in our life time, the prices have come down so fast that I don't really pay attention to the longevity of certain components. If my DVD burner failed today, I would just drop into Circuit City and drop ~$100 for a new one without really thinking twice.

On the flip side, if my Onkyo receiver where to cease operating, that would really piss me off.
