Sharp LCD televisions are trimming down

As the worldwide leader in liquid crystal displays, Sharp has announced that it will soon launch its new D64U series of AQUOS LCD televisions featuring a new slim line casing. The new line of TVs will give consumers the ability to have a bigger display, but on a much smaller footprint than previous models.

The D64U series will comprise of LCDs in 62-, 52-, 46-, and 42-inch displays all capable of displaying a true 1080p Resolution. Bob Scaglione, senior VP of Product and Marketing for Sharp said, "The AQUOS LCD TV Line has always set the standard in technology and picture quality. Today, we set a new standard in design. With its graceful, space-saving design and full-HD resolution, Sharp�s AQUOS D64U series provides the ultimate home entertainment experience with the perfect balance of style and performance."

Sharp has re-engineered the LDC displays it currently offers to bring consumers a display that is being touted as the thinnest LCD in the industry and they have also managed to shave 25% of the weight.

The D64U AQUOS series provides full HD 1080p picture, utilizing Sharp�s proprietary Advanced Super View (ASV) / Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology. Manufactured at Sharp�s state-of-the-art Kameyama LCD panel factory, Sharp�s ASV panels feature decreased colorshift and extraordinary LCD performance, enabling a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 10,000:1, with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology. Enhanced Fine Motion video circuitry delivers the industry�s fastest pixel response time of 4 ms.

There is no price released on the 62-inch display, but its details and availability are scheduled for September of this year. August will bring consumers access to the remaining three sizes, 52-inch, 46-inch and 42-inch screens priced at $3799, $2699 and $2099 respectively.

Everyone always talks about tvs getting cheaper now and days, but i think that only applies to vizios,olevias,magnavoxes, and sylvanias. All the good brands like sony, and sharp, are getting cheaper but they're still pretty expensive. [ + quote]
