i'm downloading everyday more than 20GB movie...games...etc

using Utorrent and BearShare

I Had No IDEA........Its really that bad .. there even thinking about Filtering p2p man 10% what a bummer

Bittorent is accounted for 50 to 75% of ALL internet traffic? Really ALL?

I think those n00bs are forgetting Usenet... Newsservers... every heard of that? Much faster and better then bittorent! I only use bittorent when I can't get is on usenet! Have a look at www.giganews.com for example... leading usenet provider in the whole freakin WORLD!

Maybe p2p + usenet is 50% of all internet traffic, but not p2p alone!

And about the filtering of p2p... in the Netherlands some providers already block some standard bittorents and other p2p ports! So it's already starting. But you can just use a higher port :-)

Yeah, the problem is that we don't know how exactly they gathered the data for these results. I don't know about you, but for me I only need to actually have usenet running for about an hour to download everything I need for a week. You can't get 830k/s download speeds off of bittorrent or any other P2P.

I would say yes(20-40% error ratio) and they are responsible for building the fing net, people like "US" will spend 50-150 for a descent net speed while the mundane net users wont pay more than 20 for net and are "happy" on dial up.

not really that hard to believe.. 90% of all internet traffic is p2p. p2p can be any type of peer to peer connection. 37% peer to peer. 46% theu http. and im guessing they are refering to rapidshare and MU and stuff like that.

I think I spent 1200 into Sat net for 6 or 8 months...still owe 600...at least the other 6 was monthly fees :P

and while usenet Or NNTP servers have there advantages they also have disadvantages. thats how the world works in order to improve something, something else what made it great will be lost.

Dail-up not so slow here I have a modem rack equiped with six modems
using 4 lines from the phone company i can easly tople up to 224 kbps

mm 3 or 4 KBS each nice :P

to bad to do that here its 25 per line and they will start changing you sever fees if you are on dial up for more than 20 hours.

Here dial up is as fast as 5.0kbps

its cheaper to pay for the DSL 0-o
and they have not been bitching at me all the bandwidth I hog :P

hell if I added on digi cable for another 40 a month I could get 10 mbps insted of 2mbps LOL

Actually bittorrent is a lot faster then most people think :| I get speeds up to my cap of 600 kb/s and that is simply amazing with hard to find rare files :)

True, I have reached speeds up to and over 1 mb on torrent based engiens, however torrents also suffer from tracker crash or tracker hicups and torrents are prone to pieces missing torents use a system that dial up users get and thats peices of information for instance for about a 6 gig torrent this is common config on tracker hash (3600x2)this means trackers have detected 2 computers seeders with half complete status. the higher the multiplyer the higher the speed and the higher the risk of corrupt torrents. since theres No way for the torent to update it self on the fly, that means that if the seeder of the secound part of that file turns his computer off that leaves you hanging with 3.2 gigs of incomplete or a common half of what you needed, were as usenet does not suffer from such you see usenet is a news group type server , however these news group servers are often embeded with links to personal ftp sites or full speed downloads, for instance if i linked you to a perticular file on
a private server that has full speed unrestricted downloads becouse of my account with that private site. but torrents were designed to allow smooth transition of large files across phone lines

Zippy, stay with DSL if you can. beleave me zippy that 10 megs a second from brighthouse or comcast or bigpond is a lie they said high speed downloads not uploads. so in a marketing stance there telling the truth. Cable is bad for gameing a fair warning zippy.

Another article that shows that they do research on pointless stats anyone could tell u that majority of internet traffic is p2p.

Isn't the entire CONCEPT of the internet "peer-to-peer"??? IMO, 100% of net traffic is P2P.

normal HTTP traffic is not considered that and I think the net was founded on P2P it was just connecting computer rooms across the nation at first.
