The Pirate Bay now owns IFPI.com

12 October 2007 17:54 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 31 comments

The Pirate Bay now owns IFPI.com IFPI.com, the domain previously owned by the infamous anti-piracy outfit, The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has now somehow found its way into the hands of The Pirate Bay, the infamous torrent tracker.

Making the situation even more ironic, The Pirate Bay admin team says it will now use the domain to host the newly founded International Federation of Pirate Interests.

The main domain of the IFPI, ifpi.org, is still working but anyone trying to access ifpi.com are redirected to a Pirate Bay server with a splash screen showing "International Federation of Pirate Interests."

Brokep, one of the admins of the Pirate Bay had this to say, "International Federation of Pirate Interests (IFPI) is the new international federation we're starting in order to get the word of piracy spread."

When asked how they got the domain, Brokep responded, "It's not a hack, someone just gave us the domain name. We have no idea how they got it, but it's ours and we're keeping it."

Im sure everyone agrees the Pirate Bay will be a better host than the IFPI.

If you check the ifpi is actually .org, unless they changed it within the time frame but I don't know. So I'm assuming the .com was never taken so congrats and getting it and can't wait to see it!

The authorities should have no problem spotting those onvolved in piracy surely.
They have one leg a stick usually an eye patch a parrot on one shoulder and mutter something about "AHHHHHHHH JIM LAD."
Quite easy to spot in this day and age surely

not quite... true that it is a misnomer... but I bet there wasn't so much as a farthing received for even one barrel of rum stolen by the pirates of yore

No, a pirate has the loss of property as one of the defining parameters and the recording industry hasn't lost one single note to anyone in the p2p community ... IN FACT... they received at least one sale in the last year because I did download a movie (Pink Panther to be exact) and I can truthfully state that without seeing that cam of the movie I would never have paid $20 for that movie

what they call a pirate is in reality just a lonely guy sitting in their small room making an exact copy of an original that is in no way harmed by the process

now in the days of pirates they did have persons that fit that description... they were called MONKS

I am proud to say "I am a MONK"
