The Pirate Bay no longer running on Hypercube

The infamous torrent tracker The Pirate Bay is no longer running on Hypercube and has moved to Opentracker, which TiAMO from TPB says uses less resources as well as supports UDP tracking.

TPB has been testing Opentracker for over a month and have now switched their trackers, all 16, over to the new software.

TiAMO explains a bit further, �Well it�s faster than hypercube and uses less resources. Also it supports UDP tracking which hypercube did not.�

Opentracker is a "lightweight BitTorrent tracker which uses minimal resources (it runs fine on your WLAN router). The software does not store any data or log any IP-addresses and is more stable and efficient than most other tracker software."

TPB, alongside with denis.stalker.h3q.com now track more than 9,000,000 peers and 1,000,000 torrents on Opentracker.

I have to say this, I'm a long time TPB fan. I liked it and prefered it. But when the whole mess with them and uploader aXXo went south it was just enough to set me on a journey to check out the other torrent tracker sites out there. And i found out something interesting. about 70% of the content TPB lists, is listed first on Mininova...sometimes a week before, other times quite a few weeks. And Mininova seems to have better files, and a wider selection. Although it's interface is not a well done as TPB. I'm not an aXXo lover, i think he had good stuff though. But i kinda see TPB as the sellout "brand name" tracker of the group. Their name is big, but the end product is not as good as smaller lesser known brands. Personally i hardly ever visit TPB anymore. Not a flame war or anything just an observation. [ + quote]

i dont support this move, however im sure pirate bay has more information on this then us, it was probably made in there best interest based on the variables in play [ + quote]

Quite possible it will be used to stop or slow down leagle pressures on TPB. on the side however this has a major disadvantage they cant ban ip adresses of crap file uploaders. in simple terms its faster easer to manage, but it will be an out right pain for the clients. I just visited Mininovas Statistics page: http://www.mininova.org/stats/track/ To me, it looks like most of the torrents are _From_ TPB, not opposite.. [ + quote]

I don't know how anybody can say that switching to a system which DOES NOT store/log your IP is not good. I'm happy to know that they are taking these steps for their efficiency and our security. [ + quote]

Clearly they haven't heard of TIMECUBE. It's way better than Hypercube or whatever that new one is. 4 days in 1! Seriously, google it. HILARIOUS! ALSO: OT good they aren't recording IPs anymore. Sweden or not, they shouldn't log that information anyway. [ + quote]
