Agreed the 360 and PS3 are boring as all hell I am tired and frustrated with the lack of depth in them, the WII makes up for it a bit with the control scheme but the games are not any deeper as of yet.

/agree fully zippy but at least the wii is designed around family fun and not the solo 13 year old male gamer sitting for hours in his bedroom until he "just gets to this bit" or "complete the level"

i am sick to death of how boring games have become, maybe because i have been gaming now for 25 years and have seen such titles as elite, repton, citadel, jet set willy, atic atac, doom, half life, counter strike ect and slowly watched the games become more about technical ability that actual gameplay and fun!

Looking at Crysis for it's technical ability rather than it being a mere run-of-the-mill fps,it seems that the PC is the worse offender of being stuck in a rut.
Kudos to the Wii, for being a bit different from the norm but alas , not my cup-a-tea.I'll stick to GTAIV,Orange Box,Halo3,Crackdown,Forza,GoW,COD4 and Uncharted to provide my Wiimoteless thrills thank you very much.....damn I'm so bleedin' bored! ;P
I played Pac-Man,Space Invaders,Defender and countless old computers/consoles when they first came out and I'd never go back to them antiques.It's all very well getting misty eyes over old classics and saying them were the good old days but playing them today shows the miniscule amount of depth they had.A quick frill if that and repetetive boredom soon after I'm afraid.
The Wii is an alternative format thats definitely required in the market but it's not the be-all to everyone.

Thats the reason i didn't get my son one for Christmas because his friend has one & he got tired of playing it in one month.His friend don't even play his Wii anymore he plays his 360.I've heard alot of people say this within the last few months.

I got one for my kids and they only play it once every couple weeks. They play their PS2 and N64 more then that. It also can attribute to the Wii not having many games out. But overall thats the scenario. I think its just a piped up game cube at best with a fancy smancy controller. I have to say i really havent played my 360 as much due to me playing my PS3. As long as the PS3 keeps making good strides and putting out good games ima be hooked.

LMFAO if only the 360 wasn't American... I blame Bush.

It's a shame more of you "haters" aren't into Mario, Zelda, and Metroid, as those are all A+ titles. As for the clones, all of you are right. And why does everyone crap on the wiimote? Games like Red Steel, for example, are really fun when aiming/shooting/reloading and other stuff. They just need a third party to make a killer app that really takes advantage of it, so then people will get off Nintendo's back!

I dont consider myself a hater of any system really its more of what i am into. I just think Nintendo didnt do much to update beside the controller which could have been released on the Gamecube because their graphics look just a like. The Wii just really seems to be a Gamecube extreme with the works. Thats it. My kids just havent been interested in it at all really which was surprise because they begged for it. The Gamecube was one of my favorite systems before the 360 came out because it had fun games that 4 players could play for hours since the PS3 has my attention the Wii is neglected in my house and so is the 360.

Thank you Nintendo for.....actually, I returned my Wii after a week. Dug up the old Dreamcast for the kids.

The Wii was a novelty for me. I only played Zelda and some of the Wii play games. Too bad Mario wasn't out. I may have been inclined to keep the system for a week longer. Maybe it's because I'm older. I want to see the perfect combination of depth and graphics. I outplayed my NES, SNES, N64, PSX, and DC over the past 20 years, and although it's fun to reminisce, and even listen to the game music once in a while, I don't revisit any of them. Didn't feel the Wii was worth keeping for the controller when my PS2 delivered the same quality game, already has a huge catalog to choose from and still planned on pumping out games through 2007.

I don't consider myself a hater either. I just want something new. Heck, my PS2 has even kept me occupied during this "next-gen" period. I mean, why invest in a system now when I can play about most of the games on my PC anyway - Crysis, GOW, Orange Box, COD4? I have to say that the wait for more console exclusives had better be worth it.

360 and PS3 are awesome but you all that dog the WII have no clue and should be bi*ch slapped with an old shoe. Your arguments have no validity, points and examples have no merit and maybe you all should take a dip over to the nearest microcenter and check out the MASSIVE selection of WII games.............many of which are the same games that the other two have. I'm 34 and although I wouldn't buy either a PS3 or 360 because my custom computer blows them ALLLLLLLL away with frame rate, graphics, lighting and over-all playability, I do acknowledge that they are quite fun, but, the WII is just ................... well.................revolutionarily MORE FUN. Golf, sports, many action games just is unbeatable.

Maybe it's just that all you who don't like the WII are the typical fat-arsed, lazy couch potato video gamer NERDS who can't fathom the idea of getting out of a chair to play a game.

I'm a 30 year old nerd and my arse is smokin hot. I work out 4 to 5 times a week (not including regular romps in the sack with the Mrs - much more fun than exercising with a Wii). I still don't like the Wii. My arguments are objective. I don't think the Wii is fun enough to invest time and money in. I have more fun playing FNR 3 on either the 360 or PS3 than Wii boxing. Just my opinion. Good for you if you think it's the best thing since sliced bread. I'm not going to be a critic as to how you enjoy your game time.

They brung back fun in games HUH? To Hell with Nintendo. How did they bring fun back into games. By incorporation a motion sensor controller? Yeah that's it. And although I wouldn't put it as harsh as jackraa (I'm such a nice guy :-P) I do agree with him. It's a gimmick IMO. They took the easy way out to make a quick buck and dodge the battle of the more powerful systems. If the Wii was on par with the 360 or PS3 in terms of hardware specs and graphics capability, I would go the fanboy route and buy one. But they let me down. A next gen Mario with a 5 O'Clock shadow and blood stained rips in his overalls will bring me back into the arms of my long lost mistress of video game consoles.

The fat over-aggressive nerd seems to be the sterotype you've bought into and are passing as fact in order to support your argument/love for the Wii. I know many many gamers, both in their teens and my age, and non of them fall into that category. There may be a large number that do, but I would not say most. Why would this offend people who are not in this category? Well because it's automatically throwing them in. The fat goofy nerd probably doesn't kid him/herself by thinking they are anything else. Your comments have been extremely aggressive towards those with a diffrent opinion than yours, and are quite frankly ignorant and absurd. I don't blame jakraa for telling it how it is the way he did. So you are saying that if tis not soemthign you like and is different then tis not new and popular.... so I will discount whatever you like "because" :P


And frankly it dosent get more innovative than the WII but its a bit ahead of its time and a bit unfinished, they really also don't have the polish on control options to make it a lot more than a gimmick, think back to the dual shock dual analog and remove all the sensitivity control options and such, without depth in the options the WII is building itself more and more into a gimmick.

As for the 360 it has more games but lacking a cheat device to make mostly mediocre crap fun I will pass till I can get a real 360 for 400$ (fully fix,65NM CPU/GPU and 120GB HDD, and maybe internal HDVD if I wait a year or 2 :P)

the PS3 is in the same boat I see nothing beyond the mediocre fluff they are pushing on the masses.

Well it looks like in comparison Nintendo is still way ahead in the console battles. Microsoft and Sony have a lot of work and ground to make up.

I guess I should expound on what I personally mean by "I want something new." After 5 years of the Gamecube and being a fan of Nintendo since the beginning, I was looking for more open-ended type games with free-roam environments. I've always been a Mario fan. But I'm not interested in playing Mario games of yester-year. Same with Zelda. I want to see Link, as well as the characters of the Mushroom kingdom gradually become more realistic looking. I wanted to see Metroid take on more of a Gears of War look and feel (minus the blood and swearing). Instead, I got a wireless magic wand and the same games of last generation Nintendo. For me, it was like getting a toy in a cereal box. How many fans do you think Nintendo would have kept if they didn't make the jump from 8-bit to 16-bit with Sega. (I realize that this gaming generation is a little more complicated than that).

While I was frustrated with Nintendo, I am not against them. I am hoping that after 5 years, they just were not ready to go that direction and were smart enough to realize it. But since Sony and M$ were forcing their hand, they had to release something. And it's a goldmine now. But, niether Sony or M$ were ready either. Crappy hardware, online play and marketplace gimmicks (M$) and lack of titles (Sony) and the infancy of High Definition has kept me from purchasing either of the other systems and focus more on my PC. There is no doubt in my mind that the Wii is just a gimmick. But from a business perspective, it was very smart of them. I hope that the Wii gives them the capital they need to really pump out a kick-@$# system that will have the processing power needed to create the games that I am interested in. And if the Wii-mote comes with that new system, then I will embrace it with open arms.

So it all depends on what you consider "new." I'm looking at it more from an artistic viewpoint. I want the visual and depth that higher technology brings coupled with the innovation. So, I don't view myself as an "average user." Those are my reasons behind "wanting something new."

I want a realism acceptable for it's genre, without a sacrifice in game depth. I don't play games just because they look good. And innovation is great. But a new controller will not make me want to buy a new system. I want to see the next level of graphics and depth Nintendo can bring to the table. The Wii-mote is not enough to satisfy my apetite for "something new."
