Touchscreen Blackberry coming?

22 December 2007 17:38 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 5 comments

Touchscreen Blackberry coming? Research analysts from the financial group GMP Securities have "confirmed" the ongoing rumors that Research in Motion will be releasing a touchscreen 9000-series BlackBerry device sometime in the near future.

The BlackBerry 9100, dubbed the "Touchscreen 1.0", will offer a "slide-out Qwerty keyboard under a large touchscreen display" giving users the best of both worlds.

So far, online reports vary on the other specs of the phone with some suggesting 3G connectivity and others implying it will be a 2.5G handset.

More updates as soon as the phone is officially announced or denied.

the only reason touchscreen is good is because it leaves more room for the screen and less room for directional buttons. although i am a big fan of blackberry.

I don't get what the big deal is with a touch screen.
Sure it makes more room for the screen as opposed to buttons, but then you get a screen covered in greasy fingerprints.

lol next they will tell us that is got an arm processor.. and runs windows mobile core...

... COUGH HTC Cough, Wizard, Herms, Herald, Athena, Kaiser, Titan...

its funny... one day long ago people used to buy a black berry because they wanted "email on their phone", which is so similar to apple and people wanting a digital portable music player got an ipod. Both were not new ideas and had both been around a long before their devices hit market... but thanks to the power of marketing...

The thing is about touch and no im no iphone convert, but everyone is now going to have to rethink, as the iphones multi touch interface has made all previous touch implimentations look very weak :(

GIVE US MORE MULTI TOUCH !!

or with reports that phones will shortly have a lower power laser projection system... maybe we will see more camera motion/position sensing devices...

I tend to agree however i like it more this way because it gives the user freedom to use it freehand without worrying about mini keyboards and such.
