Two weeks ago we reported that Mitchell Baker of Mozilla Europe was quoted as saying that Firefox Mobile was in the works and would be coming before 2010.
It appears however that we may be seeing the alpha stage of the application much sooner, even as soon as a couple of weeks.
Mozilla CEO John Lilly, in an interview with the San Jose Mercury News said that the Firefox Mobile Alphas "could be released in a few weeks.”
The full quote says, "We want to make sure that the Web on mobile is more like the Web than what the mobile industry offers today, which is closed, separate networks and not a very good information-getting experience for the user. The first thing is to bring Firefox to mobile devices. We’re working on that, and we’ll see some alphas in a few weeks."
Sounds good.

Good god!!!
You mean that we'll be able to install a browser that actually works (unlike IE) for FREE on our phones???
Maybe it's just me, but I'm guessing that there are millions of WM6.1 users out there that are holding their breath, waiting for this software!

I'm one of them! This should push Opera Mobile to be freeware, as it's FAR superior to IE!

Nice of them to FINALLY join the party lol. I hope it will be well worth the wait. They have their work cut out for them in having a better mobile browser than Opera. They REALLY have their work cut out to be a better browser than Skyfire. I used to use Opera mobile until I found Skyfire...it is the best IMO. It will handle anything you throw at it including videos ie: Youtube.

Well, 'the bar' is not very high. M$ has only put out garbage this millinium. M$ claims it is pirates doing all the damage. I guess the reason pirates haven't hurt the XP sales is they already have a pirated copy of that and don't want to steal more.
I rest my case. They are complete idiots!
