YouTube to restrict sexually suggestive content

4 December 2008 15:37 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 10 comments

YouTube to restrict sexually suggestive content Although it has already banned any type of sexually explicit content, YouTube is planning to restrict "sexually suggestive" content even more.

The new rules will make sexually themed content only available to adults and the content will be banned from the site's more popular pages if you are a guest without an account.

"We've been thinking a lot lately about how to make the collective YouTube experience even better, particularly on our most visited pages,"
says the official blog. "Our goal is to help ensure that you're viewing content that's relevant to you, and not inadvertently coming across content that isn't."

The new rules will be reference to content that is "intended or designed to arouse viewers."

The new rules will however run into the same problems as all other YouTube rules in that the staff of the site rely on users to "flag" inappropriate videos. There are millions of videos available at any given time though, meaning there will always be some videos that slip through.

    Gay...

Youtube needs to change its slogan to Tits or GTFO. May improve the selection.

What a shocker it must have been for those choir-boys running YouTube.

    What is actually deemed "suggestive?"

Sometimes a second chance is just the opportunity to kill something thats already injured.

add: a tighter reign wouldn't hurt anything. especially when little kids can get on there. of course the entire internet is laden with that crap. so how much is removing another "suggestive" section gonna help... :)

I was actually curious as to their (the powers that be of You Tube) interpetation of "suggestive."
I'm not sure that Webster's collegiate dictionary version will transcend into their scope of appropriate or not. Just curiousity.

Oh I quite agree sKrEwZ. It's up to the owners of said website to determine the degree of which they can regulate "suggestive" material. Let's just hope the litigious society we live within doesn't cloud the readers mind with absolute drivel. The media has done it for years and I'm sure with the guidance of the ACLU. ROFL.
