iPhone headed to Wal-Mart on Sunday

27 December 2008 0:03 by Andre "DVDBack23" Yoskowitz | 5 comments

iPhone headed to Wal-Mart on Sunday Wal-Mart has noted that they will begin sales of the Apple iPhone 3G on Sunday, and that the 8GB model will sell for $197 USD and the 16GB model for $297.

The prices are for the phone with a new two-year contract with the exclusive carrier AT&T or for a "qualified upgrade."

The phone will be available on Sunday at 2,493 of the retailer's 3,200 locations, and a spokesperson noted that Wal-Mart will price match any lower price on the iPhone 3G.

With the new move, Wal-Mart becomes the second retailer to sell the phone, following Best Buy which began selling the phone earlier this year.

Interesting Wal-Mart was never a big Phone store in my opinion. Now with the advent of wireless telephones and cell telephones they seem to have taken notice. They never had much of a selection ... even in their grocery department.Hopefully, now that they have renovated many of their locations, they might pause to reflect on the fact that consumers, especially electronics consumers, would like to have more than the two or three proverbial telephones to choose from. That would Shirley be a plus for people like me who do not have a plethora of options retail wise at their shopping disposal. Seems as though they have finally decided to carry more than just a few mid range T.V.'s and following suit with telephones would be a step toward the correct direction. Wal-mart seems to have finally taken notice of its customer's desires and hopefully will continue to broaden the selection and diversity of its in-store offerings.
