BluRay movies are selling just fine. Sales volume for 1st quarter 2009 is almost double compared to 1st quarter 2008. All that in the middle of a recession and the slowest buying season of the year:
Blu-ray Q1 sales almost double year-on-year
Anyway, no matter how much we see evidence to contrary there will still be people who'll say that the format is dying.

How amazing! Sales go up as the sale price drops! Who would have predicted that?

Yawn, this news article is still pointless, Blu-Ray sales are still getting DESTROYED (9:1, minus Batman type movies which is still 3:1 for DVD) by DVD.
Blu-ray is going the way of Vista. Something else (possibly holigraphic discs) is going to come along. Just like HDMI out teched DVI. Burning millions of people.
People are tired of changing technology, including TV's. Supposively 1660p and 1920p TV's are coming within 3 years. Count your uber expensive 1080p useless.

I had Laserdiscs, then DVD, also my psst VHS collection. Now ai have a digital collection and plan to stick with DVD with my Upconvert dvd player. Do I want a BluRay Maybe? for my htpc home theatre computer because that is my future no more standalone players, no more discs I want it digital and DRM free, I know I will be waiting along time...or will I. Technology is growing fast to me hard copies of movies and music are old school and I am 45. It's time people, companies, producers and the world embrace the paperless, discless world. I like entertainment I can port from my pc to my psp, to my laptop take it on the go anytime anywhere. Nuff said

If this isn't hughjars then i'll eat my blu-ray discs :)
Remember when HD-DVD crashed and burned ( 2 weeks after he announced it was going to blast blu-ray out of the water at the january Trade Fair ) - he then switched his rants to how blu-ray or any HD format would never replace DVD as there would never be the demand.

Well noon e really expected sony to pull no punches and go into debt over it sure they restructured some and are mostly in the black for it.
I found me a nice 6X LG BR burner for 150$, 15 25GB discs for 60$ is not so bad bad.

Ya and in acouple years a 15-25 pack of 25GB BRs will be as cheap as DL DVDs.
Ah modern gaming its like modern film only the watering down of fiction and characters is replaced with shallow and watered down mechanics, gimmicks and shiny-er "people".

I dunno its still on sale and I am waiting for moeny to coem in befor I jump at it.
I hear it might have issues(well even DVD burners sometimes give out or break in the first few months) so for a extra 40$ I am adding 2 year replacement plan on it.
the media I have planed out to get is 4X so it might take 30minetes to burn, I AM going to install a fan or 2 on the unit I plan to put it in my case heat is an issue to worry over if its cooled well it will last longer.
Even if it goes off sale its only 20$ more so I am not overly worried about it
So far from my plans and assumptions it should be better than doing 2 DL DVDs at once...I had thought about 2 more DL drives and having 4 burners go at once but frankly I don't think its worth the time/effort and physical space to store, not to mention drag on the PC when you do it.
And hard drives are just to lulzy to use as a archival method I have done so in the past to lose 3 HDs worth of data, I guess if you fill the HDD all the way up with data scan it then format it then recert the drive you could do it but smart and such is not smart enough to warn of HD errors and with 90% of disc media you burn it once with some form of data verification and its good for a a few years.

Way too funny and so right! But wait a minute isn't HD-DVD going to win the format war? LOL
Cheaper prices and the fact that it is cheaper to entertain your family with a BD movie then going to the theater I think drives the market. Now if unemployment would go down we might even see more increase in sales.
