"The current arrests are occurring at a time when the IFPI is telling Canada that free trade talks with Europe will be halted if the nation does not reform its copyright laws"
Tell them to stuff it

I would really like to answer this thread but I am sure I would just cause, or end up in a political debate.
I do agree though that the arrests are good. To me that really is 'piracy'
Obtaining material, software, music, media and reproducing copies to sell.
well its hard for me to 'bite my tongue' about what other countries want Canada to do,so thats all I will say.

Be prepared to spend over 1000 for permanent residence. Citizenship costs additional as well. (been there, done that).
And its COLD here! :)

British Columbia is the Province to be at! Lower Mainland area has decent weather if you don't mind rain every other day. :)
@ tavek I'm sure every country has their fair share of good looking non-stuck-up chicks, you just have to know where to look.
I think Canada's Law's are adequate. Uploaders and sellers of copyright material is illegal. And as noted above people get arrested.
I don't think I've seen a Made in Canada sticker on any torrented material.

And you call that expensive? Try spending 3X,4X that, and getting nothing in return here in US...
I download stuff off the net myself, that's available for free. As for the people that pirate stuff for profit, I could care less if they get impaled.

People are people, as the saying goes. Toronto is just as bad in crime as my native new orleans. Harsh winters here though, which I wasnt prepared for when I arrived. Much much easier to get citizenship in Canada (coming from U.S.) than vice versa. Bioware is in Edmonton, but Im not sure if that counts as "tech" in the sense another poster was looking for.
Chicks are hotter here than in U.S.? What city?
