Hulu loses audience share, but gains views

Hulu, the joint online video site owned by NBCU, Disney and Fox had another strong month in April, gaining views for the sixth consecutive month.

However, the site lost market share as YouTube and Turner Network gained even more viewers during the period.

For the month of April, 397 million videos were viewed on Hulu, up almost 5 percent from March. Hulu remains the number 3 video site in the U.S, behind the clear market leader YouTube and Fox Interactive sites which include sites such as MySpace.

Hulu's audience share fell however, from 2.6 percent to 2.4, as YouTube jumped 15 percent month-on-month and Turner Networks jumped 63 percent in the same period.

I like hulu. It has a wonderful selection of TV shows. The movie selection is improving. I can sit through 2 15-30 second commercials in order to stream a tv show is pretty good quality. Plus, it is great for people that don't have cable. [ + quote]

Yeah, hulu is nice...but the content is very limited, especialy now that the TV season is over. Sites like youtube at content every minute of every day...that is why they are doing better at the moment. Hulu has done a great job getting people to the site...and lost many of those people when they watched the few videos they wanted to see, and then could not find anything else. [ + quote]
