JVC offers 1080p pocket camcorder in Japan

28 September 2009 22:25 by James "Dela" Delahunty | 1 comment

JVC offers 1080p pocket camcorder in Japan JVC has introduced the new PICSIO GC-FM1 in Japan. The 5.8x2-inch camera features an 8-megapixel still photo sensor that can record video at 2.03 megapixels in a 4:3 aspect ratio at 1080p (or optionally 720p, VGA and QVGA). It records content in the H.264 video format at 30 frames per second and stores the content on SD or SDHC flash memory cards. It has a 2-inch LCD screen.

An equipped HDMI-output allows users to play their HD video on their HDTV with a HDMI cable at full resolution. A 4X digital zoom is available to use in place of an optical zoom and image stabilization corrects shaky video problems generally associated with pocket camcorders.

Software bundled with the camcorder allows users to easily create DVDs or upload videos to YouTube. It carried a $220 price tag and will only be available in Japan at least toward the end of the year.
