Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm betas on Xbox 360 this month

only one i care about is last.fm. i hate FB and twitter. i could honestly care less anyone has to say or tweet while im killing them.

I thought the full update was coming in October... guess I was wrong.

i heard that the only way u will be able to listen to last fm is by being in the dashboard which is a little stupid but thats what i heard that doesnt mean that its set in stone jus to let u all know

Eh, if Last.fm can only be accessed through the dashboard, they're going to get a LOT of negative feedback on that... No one wants to use their 360 solely as a radio, that's not why we buy them; but it would be fantastic to have another option for music while gaming. Particularly because I really enjoy the 'smart radio' function it has, finding similar artists in given channels, and introducing you to new artists you might otherwise never come across.

In the meantime... I kind of thought I was one of the only folks using TVersity, lol. It really is a fantastic piece of software.

I don't particularly plan to do a lot of posting to facebook or twitter from my 360 (Especially since I don't have a keyboard adapter); but from what I've heard, you can set it to post updates over what you're doing, in a similar way to how it appears when friends log in or send you invites. That aspect would be kind of cool. I've also heard that facebook will be able to track achievements and such, which is kind of cool. Some games will even post screenshots. So if you're working with a fun sandbox title, and you create something really amusing, you can publish it instantly to FB from your 360, or you might be able to auto-tweet achievements. That's pretty nifty(albeit a bit geeky) as a gamer. You can add your circle of friends, and if you get achievement-competitive as we tend to, it's a really fun way to keep track of what your friends have been doing.

I'm going to be blunt here: It's not for everyone. And it's not meant to be. They're not charging more money for these features, and they're not asking you to do anything extra for them. If you don't want them, don't use them and don't complain. XBL is the most complete experience existent in online gaming, and they're just adding more improvements. Even if they're not things that YOU necessarily want, be happy that they're doing things to bring even more people onto the service. That means more revenue (so that they can keep the service running smoothly for you) and more folks for you to potentially play with. Any way you look at it, it's a good thing.

I personaly won't use an of them. The people over at the Facebook site are a bunch of liars if you ask me, they said they wouldn't take your info and then changed the rules after everyone was signed up. I don't know why anyone would want everyone else to know what they are doing all of the time anyway.

It's business, they never lied. The terms of service were very clear that they had the right to do this all along.

And besides, if you're so concerned about your privacy, then don't use your real name. It's that simple. I haven't had my real name on there in nearly two years.

If you think you're not being used for some form of data anywhere on the net for that matter, you're sorely mistaken. I don't care if it's gmail, myspace, facebook, or even your own bank's website. You can bet they're ALL collecting some sort of info about you and your access. Look at it this way: I've had facebook linked to my gmail account for ages now, do you know how much spam I get in that account? None. Obviously, their info-trading practices aren't too severe in reality. These sites know that if they give out things like e-mail addresses, phonen numbers, and such to anyone who wants to buy it... They're going to be knee deep in investigations and legal actions (I didn't say legal actions would be successful, but they cause problems anyways). You can get all up in arms all day and night shouting from the rooftops that they're selling your personal info... But the facts speak louder than your overinflated concern over the ridiculous notion that you still have privacy as it is. If sites like facebook and twitter sold your personal information to spammers, you'd be swimming in the results right now. Believe me, spammers KNOW how big the pool of users on sites like myspace, facebook, and twitter really are. If they could buy just a few, they'd spam the he__ out of them; but it doesn't happen. There's been no legitimate tracking of e-mail spam to these sites, nor mail, nor phone spam. Just because spam comes into your e-mail doesn't mean FB or twitter did it. I opened a yahoo, and aim, and a couple other accounts roughly this time last year. I gave the addresses to NO ONE, as I wasn't ready to use them for their intent yet.

You know what's interesting? I still got spam. I had given the addresses for each of these accounts to no one, but I got spam anyways. There are scripts designed to conjur up every possible e-mail address that could exist on given servers. This means that no matter how secure you try to make your account, there will always be a force trying to get to you with bogus messages.

If you're worried about your privacy, get off the net, close all your bank accounts, and move to a third world country. If you don't want folks to know what you're doing, don't post it. If you don't want to see what your friends are excited about, don't read it. But if you don't want to share your excitement with your friends, and you don't care what they're excited about... You probably live in a small cave on the moon.

Well Handsom last time I checked this is a forum and I am allowed to express my feelings without having some sh!#head getting all bent out of shape and typing out 1000 words on how paranoid he thinks I am. And for your information when Facebook first started up they said that they wouldn't use any personal information for their profit. They recently changed their policy. So if you don't have anything to say about the article, blow it out your underside you D!@khead.

I did read what he said, and i doubt i'm alone in thinking "You probably live in a small cave on the moon." comes close to your comment, nor should it have resulted in your comment..

Anyways, on topic, i can at least ignore the social networking additions on my 360's, as much as i dislike such sites i accept that others (for some odd reason) like such things.
