LG begins mass production on Full HD 3D displays

LG begins mass production on Full HD 3D displays LG Display has announced that it has begun mass production on the world's first Full HD 3D LCD monitor, a 23-inch display with 1080p resolution.
Consumers will use shutter glasses to deliver the full HD resolution.

The panel will use LG's own "high performance 3D exclusive controller," which allows for improved capabilities of resolution and picture quality as well as processing of more than twice as much image data as current 3D LCDs. For those not interested in 3D, the panel can switch back and forth to 2D.

Davis Lee, LG Display's Vice President and head of IT marketing department says: "LG Display has made a major breakthrough in the display industry race to deliver the depth and dynamic nature of 3D images. LG Display will continue with efforts to keep pace with the fast growing 3D market with leading 3D technology and products in order to create new value for customers."

No word on release timetable or price.

But back to the article....

For the 3D TV to work do u need a 3D source or does it just take any old regular source and turn it 3D?

I'd venture a pretty certain guess that you need a 3D source.

1.) If you look closely, dog and his wife are not wearing 3D glasses; they are at the same convention, but they are not looking at the 3D monitors.

2.) This is just a novelty. One day 3D TV/movies/games might take off, but when they do, you won't need glasses, and this screen will be long obsolite. Other companies have already shown off "Full 3D HD" displays...it is downright pathetic that they would market this as a "Full HD 3D" display! That's like trying to compete against a 300HP car by selling a car with 030HP!

3.) LG NEEDS TO LEARN ABOUT VESA...you can't connect most of their screens to a wallmount, or even a sturdy desk mount. The only option is their own cheap stand, and it is clearly designed to sell displays by tipping over and breaking the old displays. If they can't even get a stand right after 20+ generations of LCDs, I imagine the first shipment of these units will be full of bugs.

i wear glasses so i don't usually do 3D, still my mind doesn't play nice with the trickery they use. ether the 3d effects don't work or its time to take 8 Tylenol.

I saw the Coraline 3D blu ray. Loved the feel of it. It only required 2 Tylenol.

Not bad...the 2D version required 4 Tylenol and a bottol of nyquil.
