Fox News hacked, hackers tweet about fake Obama assassination

As pictured, Fox New's political news Twitter stream was hacked last night, with the hackers tweeting fake messages about President Obama being assassinated.
The President is safe and sound in the White House, celebrating the Independence Day holiday.

Shockingly, the hacked tweets remained posted on the stream for over 7 hours (as pictured) before someone in the news organization got the memo to remove them.

Vice president and general manager of Fox News Digital Jeff Misenti says:

We will be requesting a detailed investigation from Twitter about how this occurred, and measures to prevent future unauthorized access into FoxNews.com accounts.

As entertaining as it is, they're not gonna be laughing when they have the FBI raid their houses.

Even on a national holiday, how the hell does no one in the organization check their Twitter feed over an 8 hour period, seriously.

Do you honestly believe that logging into a twitter account that isn't yours and making up shit justifies a full on federal raid? Lulz.

Fox news isn't very good at checking things...like facts, they never check those. If no other news agency had picked it up, it would probably still be there.

It does not justify it...but that does not mean they won't do it for the cameras.

When you evoke the President's name with the word "assassination" next to it, yes. I can guarantee you the secret service and FBI are actively looking into the hack as we speak.

Clearly a forum post is different than hacking and taking over a popular political news organization's verified Twitter account. I'm sure if you try hard enough you can get the FBI looking for you, though. Best of luck.

Shouldn't be too hard...just post a youtube video of you helping a AIDs patient to eat and the DEA will be all over you.

You should be careful. The Secret Service does keep up with forums like these, and will check whenever comments like that pop up. They may not do anything, but they will check.

I bet a lot of the swivel-eyed hate-brigade element are feeling very disappointed today.

First of all you're entirely too paranoid and coming from me that's rich.
Secondly, my ass, they can kiss it if they'd like to. Don't really care.

Fox News, douche bags (for one) not known for fact checking. Two, they got hacked; they probably figured that's news as well. Hell, they must have had a rush on the teletype!

How many times does this make it now that Fox News has been duped for not fact checking their sources? On 'big' stories here; not piddly little dog puddle speeding ticket style stories.

I'm not aware of the count, but I'm beginning to feel like it's enough that the FCC should seriously take a look at these horses asses & vote as to whether or not they should pull their license.

You think the FCC would seriously investigate one of these corporate media giants? These "news" outlets are tied right in with our corrupt government, although certainly not directly. Who else is going to feed us propaganda, and make us think we only have a choice between the two corrupt parties?

Investigate? No, probably not... Not unless someone's grandma dropped over from a heart attack because they heard the "F" bomb being dropped would the FCC bother themselves with any kind of 'investigation'. Prosecution was what I had in mind & given what has already been discussed, no, nothing will probably get done.

Do I think there's an umbilical cord attachment between the media & the government? That's a bit of a stretch actually. I'm a firm believer that they step in & dictate what we see & hear, but own the stations & blather the BS, that's a bit much. No, that's an entirely different bunch of over zealous idiots with far too much money and time on their hands; be they left or right.

I don't think its a stretch at all, and I didn't say own the stations. Take the corporate lobbyists and special interest lobbyists from having the ear of our "politicians" and it would be a different landscape. Lobbying is nothing more than legalized bribery, and we all need to get used to that fact. If there were no more lobbying, how many of these politicians do you think would actually even seek office? Left or Right is just another media tool designed to keep people at odds, fighting amongst themselves, and they've done it masterfully ever since they could. I hope my future choices aren't confined to this or that, one or the other.

You're certainly entitled & I respectfully decline as I won't get baited into a political tit for tat. Folks will just get their feelings hurt & nothing ever gets solved anyway. Splitting hairs over semantics in order to remain supreme on the side of 'right' is also obnoxious as well. When I said 'own' I meant it metaphorically. Otherwise the forum comments end up reading like "War & Peace" in an attempt to keep 'PC' individuals in the 'know'. As is L & R; "L" for those tending to be more liberal in their thinking & the "R" in being more conservative. These weren't just 'invented' out of the blue... people have always been at one another's throats. Descriptive nouns didn't 'all of the sudden' change that.
