No offense, but how retarded is all this getting.
All it is is a snippet of video or just a show because a person likes it. I mean, if it is a video of a group...so what...it isn't like you are gaining any money from it by having it viewed on your Myspace page. If anything, it is HELPING the band or movie. I know that I saw a trailer of the movie "Slither" on myspace, and if I hadn't saw that, I wouldn't have known the movie was coming out...not that it was that great of a movie anyways.
However, if there is like pornography and such on someones page, that should be taken off.
Anyways, myspace is a little over-rated anyways and it just gets perverted just like any other medium. It would be great if companies would stop crying like little *itches and just go ahead and let people express themselves with song and/or video.

I agree, this is all getting a little out of control. I honestly think that this website will be the center of attention for about 2-3 yrs. if that. Remember the site www.hotornot.com? that was all the rant and rave for about 2 yrs, then nothing as all these other sites starting popping up doing the exact same thing. The same thing is going to prolly start happening with this website. Just give it a little time and this site will die and others of the same nature will pop up.
You can't stop it....

actually kinda glad this finally happened to Myspace.. Now I wont go damned deaf from some idiot having a song/video on their profile turned up way tooo high.
Tho I can see the RIAA demanding Myspace pull down any content that isnt copyrighted as well. you know those independent bands, those unsigned bands might have their songs ripped off w/o the RIAA's protection and all lol

The RIAA and Sony should team up.
They both enjoy keeping a tight leash around thier customers' necks.

I heard a about a band who was giving a concert and turned a CD-R of their music loose on the P2P networks to advertize. The thing's still on the P2P networks advertizing the band, and they sell T-Shirts and hard copies of the CD-R's and stuff at the concerts.

I totally saw this coming to, too bad the RIAA is so sue happy.
While I don't personally use MySpace (personally I think its a waste of time), I know many people that do and with the large amounts of people that use MySpace I could see someone finding a way around these new restrictions.
With as big as MySpace a hole will be found in the restrictions and if/when that happens MySpace will have to manually take down "copyrighted" content off individual pages which will take forever.
Peace,
Pop Smith

The company's CEO Chris DeWolfe stated, "MySpace is staunchly committed to protecting artists' rights..."
Blah blah BLAH!!!! I call pure BULLCRAP. Artist's right's my A$$.
It's not the artists that are CONSTANTLY whining about copyright infringment. They KNOW having their videos out there can only help their careers. Unless they happen to be one of those few acts in the "top 40", artists are the first ones to get screwed buy the music biz, after that it's us, the fans.

are you kidding? sony lets its hardware fly free in the wind. you didnt even need a mod chip to play backups on the ps2, or even to play backups online!
<QUOTE>MySpace is staunchly committed to protecting artists' rights, whether those artists are on major labels or are independent acts. This is another important step we're taking to ensure artists control the content they create.</QUOTE>
yeh right... i call bullshit. he says that to keep laywers happy. behind the scenes the mods are probably told to let everything go without restraint, fox knows if it wants a return on that 500 mil investment it cant dilute myspace. it would be funny if they only blocked fox stuff.
