I guess we will have to wait till we get a consumer release to see if this has a good turn out or not. At the moment it is too early to say if it is good or as a matter a fact if it sucks.

No 3G, HSDPA or even EGDE? Hope they change that for Europe...

$600?! Is that an actual price or an exaggeration?

Exaggeration.
You probably won't be able to get an iPhone unlocked for at least a year, if ever.
$600 may be the MSRP. Cingular will probably tie it into a subscriber contract for $100 to $200 purchase price.
I'll be getting one as soon as I can. I have a Motorola Q through my company, and I fecking hate this POS.

Neat concept, but I feel this will be a mass produced, over priced commercial item aimed towards all of the un informed sheeple out there.

$600 MSRP? I find that kinda hard to believe just because it sounds so far fetched for a PHONE. $100-$200 is not that bad I guess if it has good tech in it. But its gotta be top-o-the-line cuz the contract price is always the discounted one.

Much ado about nothing. Tempest in a teacup. Who cares? If it's more than half the cost of cellular, I'll stick with cellular - the devil I know.

I currently have a smartphone (Cingular 8125), and although I do use it for several cool things like watching movies and reading my e-books, at the end of the day I bought the thing because I needed to talk on the phone.
I paid a little over $300 for mine, and that was probably the northern border of what I'm willing to pay. I just can't see paying $600 for this. How are you going to feel when you put this thing in your back pocket or the bottom of a purse just to fish it out with a really nice scratch on the screen?
This is where the old Nokia 5160 was king. Crack the case; buy another one for $5. Scratch the screen? No problem, another $5 would get you another piece of plastic to replace it with.
All the accessories now are the weird colored pieces of rubber or plastic the really prohibit the use of all the phones buttons.
Nothing like sending a text message with a sticky piece of plastic that squeaks against the keys every time you press it.
