PocketTV v0.3.5

Written by Petteri Pyyny (Google+) @ 06 Sep 2000 20:55

Since we have _HUGE_ amount of PDA users among our regular users, we love to post new upgrades of this excellent, excellent piece of software. MPEGTv team has updated their PocketPC MPEG-1 video player to version 0.3.5 fixing some issues in international PocketPC versions.
We also got finally an answer to question that many of us has asked -- what PDA runs videos smoothly and on what bitrate/etc?

Here are the stats from PocketPC team:

About playback statistics:
Performances depend mostly on video size and total bandwidth (for a given size).

QSIF (160x120 or so) plays 17 to 24 fps on Cassiopeia and the Jornada, and it plays full frame-rate on the ipaq.

Half-SIF (240x180 or so) plays 7 to 12 fps on the Cassiopeia and the Jornada, and it plays usually full frame-rate on the ipaq.

SIF (320x240 or 352x240) plays 12 to 17 fps on the ipaq but will play poorly on the Cassiopeia and the Jornada.
