TMPGEnc MPEG Editor announced

Written by Petteri Pyyny @ 18 Aug 2004 15:49

On this very quiet news day, Pegasys (the makers of TMPGEnc) has announced a new product called TMPGEnc MPEG Editor, which develops further the original MPEG editor found from Pegasys' TMPGEnc v2.x products.
New product, due to launch in mid-September, allows precise cut operations for MPEG files, whereas typical MPEG editors only allow cutting on GOPs. This feat is achieved by adding TMPGEnc's encoding routines to the software -- Editor simply re-encodes only the parts between two GOPs, if needed, to maintain original quality of the MPEG file/s as often as possible.

Software also allows editing MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files and also pre-authored DVD-Video material, including DVD-VR format that stand-alone DVD recorders often use.
