Elby updates CloneDVD, Slysoft drops the price Two interesting press releases dropped in last night. First of all, Elaborate-Bytes have updated the handy DVD backup too cloneDVD to a version 2.5.4.3. The new version supports 16x recorders and is able to remove unreferenced material. Also, transcoder and recording engine improved.
CloneDVD V2.5.4.3 now supports 16x writers and removes unreferenced material. This option can improve video quality significantly when splitting. Some changes have been done regarding the user-interface when using XP. Layout now supports big screen fonts.
CloneDVD now disables power saving and screen savers while writing. Additionally the transcoder (now R072q) and the writing-engine have been improved.Slysoft, the 'close partner' and distributor of Elby products, sent out another one announcing reduced pricing for CloneDVD. The software is now available for just $39 or €30.
With today's release of version 2.5.4.3 and just in time for Christmas, SlySoft lowered its price for CloneDVD 2 from $46US to $39US. Europeans will especially appreciate this; due to the currently weak US$ the price of CloneDVD 2 is just about 30 Euro.

In July 2004, SlySoft acquired a license from Elaborate Bytes to distribute CloneDVD 2 over the Internet. CloneDVD 2 as distributed by SlySoft is 100% identical to Elaborate Bytes' original version.
