Xbox 360 outsells PS3 in Japan According to the latest figures from Media Create, the Microsoft Xbox 360 has outsold the rival Sony PlayStation 3 in Japan two weeks running, marking a sharp contrast in the country where the 360 has constantly lagged very far behind in sales.
The figures show Microsoft selling 13,777 units for the week ended September 21st with Sony only selling 8,156 units for the same period.

The Nintendo Wii continued its domination of the market though, selling more than the 360 and PS3 combined at 29,921 units for the week.

Handhelds continued to sell well with the ever popular Nintendo DS selling 61,242 units and the Sony PlayStation Portable selling 29,921 units for the week.

Well, I'm sure most Japanese Gamers already have a WII or a PS3. Xbox never really had Market Saturation in the region Anyway.

With the release of personally one of my favorite Game series (Tales Franchis) Since its Japanese launch on SNES witch btw was one of the best looking and best sounding, and best story telling games for the system at the time.

And other favorites Like Fable 2.

This doesn't surprise me..

Not one bit..

look at japan a gaming device only sales good if the device can be hacked.

psp

ds

wii

360

Are all doing well there because they can be hacked and modded.

While the ps3 is to expensive to not only burn blu ray disks but to mod and figure out how to mod it.

pretty sure you can soft-mod all the other systems you've named.
i know someone recently went public with a wii soft mod and everything.

or is that already possible for ps3 and i didn't know it?

I really think Microsoft can learn something from this, maybe they should've had their Japanese strategy built around RPG's from the get-go and continued that. Heck it could've been exclusive only rpg's.

it will go back to its old numbers in 2 week the tales game gave this game a very good boost
but it wont last like MGS4's boost didn't last to long with the ps3

Well, for one it's news when any product outsells a Japanese product in Japan, but also console wars news is news, even when it shouldn't be. All that said the PS3 still has numbers in Japan, even when its worldwide numbers put it in first place.

I was just saying it because he was saying it like the ps3 never sells good in japan, while also saying the 360 is doing good in japan.
