iPad 2 will have low-resolution cameras?

According to multiple reports, the upcoming iPad 2 may have very low quality cameras, under 1MP.
Although still unconfirmed, the tablet should add dual-cameras, a combined GSM/CDMA chipset, Retina Display, and a slimmer form factor.

The alleged camera quality was discovered looking through the most updated iOS SDK.

Speculation is the rear camera, which is 5MP on Galaxy Tab, Xoom and even the iPhone 4, will instead be a tiny 0.7MP with the ability to shoot 720p video.

The front-side camera will be a 0.3 VGA camera, just enough for snapping self-pics or using FaceTime.

...And I thought that the 5MP camera on the iPhone was junk...I mean, it isn't even as good as the 5MP camera on my old droid; and my old Droid was outdated crap when the iPhone4 came out!

BUGY?! Not a damn thing bugy about Android.
Stop swallowing for Mr. Jobs and try something much sweeter.

Even if it is a 7.0MP, that is still rather crummy by current standards.

BTW...I don't hate apple; I just hate Steve Jobs and his policies. Oh, and I think the prices are way too high considering the devices are usually only the higher end of mid-range at best. I also don't like their lack of testing...but there are a lot of companies I could accuse of that. Still, a jailbroken apple TV for $100 is appealing. I might get one if someone figures out a way to install Gingerbread on it.

I don't care if the next iPad is nuclear powered and shoots photon torpedos... Apple will never get another cent from me..

Long live the Droid !!!

The number of pixels can't tell you the quality of an image. An old 2MP digital camera takes better pictures than todays 5+MP camera phones. I'm not defending apple, I just can't stand it when people complain about the number of pixels. You might even get better image quality with less pixels.

well said. My N70 and K750I took awesome annals at 2 mega pixels but still 0.7 m.pix? that's just cheap...I hope its just a rumour.

I dont hate apple. I also dont hate android. Given the chance, i would get both tablets. I was looking at the ipad and thought to myself that ill wait for the ipad 2 since it will probably be better. If this is true, then i guess i should have expected as much.

If Jobs puts all the best parts into the ipad 2, he will have to worry about what to put in the ipad 3. At least by putting older parts in the ipad 2 now, he wont have to worry about next year. He knows better parts are already available that he can incorporate for next year. He is stretching the product line by an additional few years.

The sad thing is that people will still buy the ipad 2, while possessing the ipad 1. There is nothing to force Jobs to include what is available now.

I don't care if it is a DSLR with CMYK files with no compression; 0.7MP still looks like crap.

The big question is why is he being so damn cheap?
I mean hell, a mid range phone has a better camera than that. There is nothing stopping him from putting a decent camera in there.

Maybe he knows that all those megapixels will slow his lagged network even more!

720p video ??? seriously?
Now that I think about it, that makes real sense. He limits the camera so that it doesn't bog the network...

Typical

Anyone knows if an Windows untethered jailbreak is available for the ATV? That would be the only crApple product worth buying.
