Google: Daily Android activations hit half a million

Google: Daily Android activations hit half a million Daily figure jumps by 100k in in about six weeks.
Google had revealed in December of last year that about 300,000 Android devices were being activated daily. That number jumped to 400,000 by May 10th. On Tuesday, Google's Andy Rubin announced that customers are activating half a million Android devices daily.

He said that Android's weekly growth rate is around 4.4 percent, but did not split the growth into smartphones and tablet PCs. Android smartphones are more popular than iPhones because handsets from Apple's biggest rivals, including Samsung, pack Android.

Similarly, the same handset makers are using the Android operating system for their tablet PC devices, and the mobile OS is only likely to grow in use.

I have a nexus one and I love the phone but I got to say I hope they keep improving the OS because it defiantly has problems still.

I am very excited to see them doing so well though. Apple had me scared for many years with them being the only choice out there. I like apple in there place a fan boy/girl only club.

Nexus one is a long way from a "modern" Android phone and OS.
Android 2.2 and now 2.3 (2.3.4) are worlds apart from when your nexus 1 was new. The operating sysyem has grown much since- you had a Droid. Leaps and bounds. Everything works terribly well in Android and the hardware is so amazing that its breathtaking-(HTC Evo line and the Samsung Galaxy S lines- for example. 1g 2g 3g 4g GPS/WIFI/Wifi router, ebook reader, video phone, game system, music player, movie and tv show player... all that in one device!

And its beautiful to hold in your hand with customizabiity- nobody could have forseen how obsessed people would become with fine tuning and making their phones just right with custom roms and themes. Android is an awesome experience- if your hardware is up to the challenge.
HTC Evo 4g
rooted and rommed
Ginger Ale v.5
running OTA Gingerbread 2.3.3 Android

Dont hate the player- hate the game.
