Comcast now has more broadband subscribers than TV customers

Comcast has announced that it now has more Internet subscribers than it has TV customers.
For the first time ever, the giant telecom now has more broadband users than it does TV users, quite the flip given that the company originally started as a pay-TV provider before becoming an ISP.

The numbers are close, 22.5 million to 22.3 million, and they could potentially flip back by next quarter but they are not expected to as it is clear that the Internet is the future of the industry.

Comcast also announced it had lost just 69,000 TV subscribers for the quarter, a significant improvement from the 144,000 they lost last quarter.

Do we really have a choice?!?

I did away with TV programming well over 10 years ago. I do have TWC for my internet and that's it. 300/20 for $87.99 a month. Best offer there is for my area at that speed.

AT&T only offers up to 18/5!! Pretty cruddy for the Inland Empire area of Southern CA. It's also $44.95 a month before taxes. So it's likely over $50! No thanks.

As for cable TV, you can have it! If they had ABP for TV, I might consider it, but high speed internet and an HTPC works just fine.

Agreed with ivymike!

Half the time, there isn't a choice because they have monopolized. This is true of my mom just outside Chicago.

And their service is terrible, which is worse regarding their TV so it's not surprising that people are dumping them for internet ONLY just to minimize any exposure to having to deal with them.

The have the most substandard service and hardware I've ever experienced in a company with whom I've done business.

They are also among the top 5 most hated companies. They make American biz look bad.

I agree too, they are pretty much a monopoly, isn't time we the people start asking the government to break them up like AT&T were?

I think "demanding" is more appropriate than "asking". With torches. And pitchforks.
