PsyTEL MPEG-4 AAC Encoder v2.15

"PsyTEL Research developed world's first fully independent MPEG-4 AAC implementation by using own proprietary algorithms.

We have spent long time tuning our AAC implementation (over three years with thousands of music tracks) for each bit-rate/sampling rate profile and optimized it so it beats every MP3 encoder at equal bit rate/cutoff setting! This is a huge benefit for audio industry and music lovers."

MPEG-4 AAC is a great sounding format, but it remains to be seen if it ever replaces MP3.
