DVD Flick is a simple but at the same time powerful DVD Authoring tool. It can take several video files stored on your computer and turn them into a DVD that will play back on your DVD player, Media Center or Home Cinema Set. DVD Flick uses several external program to convert and encode various PC video formats to a DVD.

DVD Flick's main target audience is people who know at least the basics about DVDs and videoaudio files.

Works for burning avi files to a disc, but way too buggy to want to keep using or recommend . it takes up to 2 hours or more for burning an hour 12 movie to a disc when dvdshrink can burn up to 3 12 hours of video in under 45 minutes with full menu added . The picture often freezes or skips throughout , but is still OK to use as a freebie software for burning files when you cant find anything else .

If the source video is mpeg2 compliant and 'Project Settings' > 'Video' > 'Advanced' is set to 'Copy MPEG-2 Streams' then the source will not be encoded - merely demuxed/muxed/authored. This speeds up the whole process.

Yes, I have downloaded and run ver 1.2.2.1 It did not accept the .sub and .idx subtitle files I had, so went online and downloaded a .srt file. the only problem with that is that the merged product had subtitles often, but not always, had <i and i> at each end of the subtitle phrase. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Also, when I play the resulting DVD on my PC using VLC, there is the option for showing or not showing the subtitles. When I play on my DVD player connected to my TV, there are no subtitles seen, and no options for showing subtitles. Am I missing out on something simple here? All suggestions and direction much appreciated

Not a fan. Slow to much effort & problems in my opinion. So you find yourself here posting questions and waiting for answers. I took the switch and payed for Xilisoft and could not be happier.

A terrific piece of encoding software, and free to boot! i've used it in the past and just recently rediscovered it. the developer gets a donation from me. i'm surprised that more people are unaware of this little program's power and flexibility, especially the ability to retain or convert to 5.1 audio in the conversion process. that's something most payware programs - at least the ones that most folks can afford - cannot do. A big thumbs up!

This software does improve immensely with each version. To Jaguar God: This program is a one-click DVD authoring program similar to WinAVI. It will transcode practically any media file from .flv to .avi to properly DVD authored files and setup the VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folders for you all in one click in a nice easy-to-understand GUI. There's a bar that calculates how much "space" is left so you can easily tell if your project will fit on your desired DVD disc before any encoding occurs. It even has menu authoring (Although it may not be perfected) The encoder produces excellent quality and uses two-pass encoding. I haven't tested this latest build, but previous versions had sound sync (buffer related) problems when played on a standalone DVD player. However, I believe this has been addressed and mostly corrected by now. But hey it's free, and at this point the quality results are close to rivaling TMPGEnc's DVD author program.

You mean for DVD or for AVI?? I haven't tried this software, but I suspect you just have to import the text subtitles and then generate a subtitle stream. Don't forget the video has to be mpeg-2 for a DVD, so you will have to encode it. For the AVI, just download mkvtoolnix and create a .mkv file with mkvmerge GUI. It will have soft subs which means you can toggle them on and off just like a DVD.

Oh yeah- and it's totally, 100% FREE!!! No registration, no nag screens, it doesn't even ask for donations. Plus it's totally clean from any malware. DVD Flick also has lots of settings for the more advanced DVD people out there but is also suitably easy for the novice. You can also do subtitles with it (I've never inserted subs, but it does have the option).... yeah, I know, this is kind of a 2nd or continued review.....

I freekin LOVE this program! It converts just about any video format to standard DVD format, and burns the disc to play back in your home DVD player. I've never had a bad disc with DVD Flick. Allows you to pick PAL or NTSC (it'll convert a PAL movie and burn it as NTSC, or vice versa), creates an .ISO image if selected, creates the needed DVD compliant files also (.vob, .ifo, .bup) so you can save 'em on your hard drive to burn later with Nero or whatever. The only reason I rated DVD Flick with 4 suns and not 5 is because it isn't very fast. Not to say it's real slow either; it takes about 90 minutes to convert a 700mb AVI and burn it... I'd actually give a 4.5 out of 5.

From what i've seen you can just add your subs to it, in srt format - no menus - speed is kinda iffy. good value for money, since its free.
