VSO DivXtoDVD is an easy-to-use freeware tool that allows converting any video file format (not just DivX) to a DVD-Video -compliant.

Program also supports converting audio files into 2-channel AC3 format, supports NTSC and PAL formats and also 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios.

Program's encoding engine is pretty fast and produces good-quality results (of course it can't be compared to multipass encoding with CCE, but the easiness and the speed of the software makes it up), considering that the source material is typically already heavily compressed with lossy encoding methods.

Tool also can automatically create chapters for DVDs and also supports putting multiple movies on one DVDR disc. Program has only two major nags -- first of all, it doesn't support converting external subtitles to DVD-compliant subtitles and secondly, it doesn't allow menu creation which would ease the navigation of the DVD dramatically when there are several movies stored on one DVDR disc. But as a summary, an excellent tool for quick DVD creation and I can see it become quite popular for converting digital camcorder material into DVDR format as well.

Been looking around for a good program that'll turn my .avi's and other files into DVD format, batch filed a bunch of them straight into a VIDEO_TS folder and worked great.

did not work at all. continued to ask me to insert a disk, when I had done so and I know the disk drive is not faulty and the disks are also fine elsewhere. also wouldn't convert from my camera when I tried that. made noise though, and actedlike it was doing something, so I guess that counts

Do Afterdawn have a tie in with VSO? I notice critical reviews of this are removed. Although this software is good, it does disappoint in some ways. Quality is not great (brash contrast or fuzzy compared even to WinAVI) and menu creation, although present, is extremely crude. Also, even with recommended additional dlls it couldn't convert RMVB files correctly.

Just used VSO DivXtoDVD and it worked great.I had to first use VOBMerge.exe to combine the files of a movie I had backed up incorrectly.I needed to separate the IFO & BUP files to get a video TS file in order to burn to a DVD-R.Thanks!

Just purchased and downloaded new version from website, after testing it. Testing the freeware, took 4 hours to burn a dvd, from AVI to burned. Excellent. Nag screen on the top of dvd burned. So impressed, I purchased, and now cranking them out in 1 hour or less. Don't know if was the new software, purchase of software, or what, but VERY happy with new software. Simple, fast, and does what it does with no problems! (Yet).... As to not know where else to post the following comment, Thanks for an EXCELLENT SITE!

The best freeware for what it does. Conversion of .avi, .mpg, etc into burnable DVD-video files, including all .bup,.ifo., _ts, and .vob. ALso allows for PAL-NTSC conversion and vice versa. Simply, excellent.

hi all Yes, this little bundle of joy is spreading quite quickly across the afterdawn scene, ease of use, the speed of conversion, quality is very good, how it sorts sound sync on auto, just a couple of little niggles with getting the true ratio NTSC / PAL size out on finished vobs... but hey its free and they are getting there! stay tuned!!!

It's a very easy and quick solution for encoding DivX files to DVD in acceptable quality. For when you have DivX files that are not of DVD-Rip quality, this program is the best solution for you. It's also quite good at NTSC --> PAL, PAL --> NTSC conversions but of course it has a slight pause in playback because of the framerate change. The ability to output AC3 audio is also a big one for NTSC DVD's, as technically MP2 is not standard for NTSC DVD's.
